The unofficial official reason (allegedly directly from an IMM) is that gmail yahoo etc. have banned SK emails due to spamming. there are something like 13 character classes I think and many people will have 4 or 5 characters. All registered to the same email, which then gets a happy hour notification for every character every day plus additional notification emails for every character, every day. It doesn't just trigger the spam filters, it is in fact spam and there is no way to opt out of it and still get your tokens. Sorry but not sorry I don't want 50+ emails every ... single ... day... . So gmail etc. have seen a pattern of people marking SK email as spam and now block it at the incoming server port (connection refused by the POP3). SK COULD get this undone, but before they do that they have to actually stop spamming first.

Is there a workaround for this? I haven't rolled a char in years and I had lots of tokens, don't want to waste them.

Your Old LT are probably lost to the void. If you can log into your old characters you can change your Email on them that may save some of them. If you cant they are probably gone but good news there so few players that par rewards are fairly quick to rack up numbers just means you need to switch to a new char after playing for a few months to use the tokens.
I dont understand why we cant turn off Email notifications. I dont need to know when happy hour is on. I might want to know when an Event is happening but I dont need an email every day to tell me that the thing that happens at the same time every day is happening.

Yahoo still works as recently as last month, Gmail or Microsoft (all kinds hotmail live etc) do not or are likely to have issues.

There needs to be a way to turn off "sending emails". Ideally stop happy hour emails separate to event emails separate to other notification emails. My basic rule of thumb is the less I trust the server to protect themselves the more likely it is to work.

The game just needs to default the email alerts to off, and let people turn them on if they want would probably have avoided the issue. But sending multiple emails a day that aren't being read it was bound to happen eventually. Some resolution to this or being able to transfer the tokens to a new email would be nice but I doubt we're going to get it.

You can turn them off with the "alerts" function in game.
