I'm not sure if I'm fully informed on how petrification works.
But I just thought of a scenario.
Lets say darkie petrifies lighty and then lighty finds a rez while darkie is standing next to the statue.
Now that Call Armor can pull things off statues (or is that only redeem retrieval?) does that mean that, if he doesn't call armor, all lightie's gear if now lost and it will have to be re-obtained after the statue crumbles and the gear respawns?
I'd like to see the darkie sorc be able to depetrify the statue, even after the lightie was resurrected, and see a lifeless corpse fall to the ground as the stone turns to flesh.
But that isn't possible, because depetrification works like a rez and the dead person has to be in the River of Death?
So could depetrification be changed to first do a rez check and if the rez check fails, do an object check and find the statue in the room?

It's always been my understanding that if you are resurrected after being petrified your statue crumbles thus forcing you to lose everything. Same if you log out after being petrified I think.

It crumbles. But not super quickly. You have sometime to die and depet again.

So re-die and depetrify. It’s an odd path to take from an RP stance. But if it works, it works.
But I think that a statue that is depetrified, without a Soul in the river, should drop a corpse.
Wouldn’t it make sense?

You can be resurrected, run around for 4 hours, then go die when a sorceror logs on, and get your statue depetrified.

It does crumble EVENTUALLY, like a corpse.

There's been lots of PK-shenanigans over the years around petrification, and people reincarnating/rushing resurrections to avoid getting depetrified/killed by enemies.

Right. One might go so far as to call that bug abuse.
Utilizing a quick reincarnation to avoid getting ganked after depetrification.
However if it were possible to depetrify a soul-less statue, if there was no soul in the river, it would make petrifications worth more than just a j all pk.
