Don't try that thinly veiled "you're whining, get over it" crap on me mate. I said from the beginning that I wanted to clarify various nonsense that has been circulating about my character for the sake of posterity and that's exactly what I'm doing. I didn't even bring it up, MPT thought it would be cool to post about it in the afterlife thread. Also, I have actually posted the log of that gank which shows Trolene picking up the breastplate to make the jloot as thorough as possible. Questions?

Let me ask, is it really inaccurate that Sargas had a very strange way of dealing with your other lightie on lightie gank with the same character as well?

I don't see where the generalisation about threats is coming from. MPT is referring to that incident with Gailehn and Xairlenia. To put it in very few words, Reinald was with Xairlenia, Xairlenia kept lying about everything and then blaming random harlequins for mimicking her and then somehow Gailehn got involved with that, being a key witness of sorts. I really like both Pook and Gailehn but in that instance (and a few others), he wasn't being a confused elf, he was being a confusing elf.

Gailehn was both. I was quite confused, as a player, by the whole mess, and being threatened caused more of an overcautious (and yet in the eyes of others) quite confusing response. He is certainly his own man and instead of trying to drum sense into people he'll step back after trying (trying anyway) to present some clarity and see if people get it and then remember he's not the bad guy and just out for best interests of others before himself. Oh this means at times he is seriously misunderstood. Yeah. I'm actually ok with this. In the long run, there's growth, especially on Gailehn's side. Besides, in the end, it wasn't Gailehn. It wasn't Reinald. It was her. :drunk:

I very much enjoyed overall interactions with Reinald. The good times. The bad times. It was an interesting dynamic because they both thought and reacted differently to things, despite having much of the same greater picture outlook. It got fuzzy (and interesting) in the details.

And this is what bothers me so much. Lighty characters are held to the written help file and God forbid they not follow it or everyone cries out for a curse or some kind of punishment. Yet, when a darkie doesn't act with their alignment, who gives a damn. This is a LARGE part of why SO MANY people leave this game. Maybe not the whole reason, but a large part none the less.

Chris

What? If people started really acting the "diabolic" alignment, or even miscreant, there would be so much crying from people about these characters being "mean" it would be ridiculous.

Reinald would have been an excellent greybie.

I would just like to note that you mentioned nothing about the Lighty half of the argument.

I don't know what game you're playing, but lighties get away with more crap than you would believe. What is all the QQ? These people are right: alignment rules are not a "guideline." They're rules. Ask an IMM. There's really no argument. Whether Reinald/Tolene/whatever character you want to cry about followed the rules is up for debate. But the fact that you're supposed to follow alignment rules fairly strictly isn't up for debate. Maybe IMMs/vets tend to let some people get away with it and not others. That's a good discussion to have. But what's past is past. I liked Reinald because he shook things up, but there were times where he toed out of alignment. He's far from being the only one. I think his character apparently had an impact despite this, no?

Alright, that's it. Ihalo has been grouping with Hentera. Ihalo, paladin. Hentera, dark aura. Paladins are never supposed to join forces with one of the dark, yet NOTHING has been done to him, and he down right gets defensive and requests a duel if you bring it up to him. Lay down the law, Jennbo.

EDIT: Removed regularly. "Paladins are never supposed to join forces with one of the dark, yet NOTHING has been done to him" stays, and is still the main point of this post.

Since you're going to outright lie about my character's actions OOC, I'll clarify for you. Ihalo grouped with Hentera once. Only once, ever, and that was for a Dreamscape trip in which he was responsible only for his own faction-mates and a grey aura priestess. So drop the "regularly" crap and get your facts straight before you spout off.

I think Hentera is grey. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

Personally, I think things like this are better handled IC. If your character thinks Ihalo shouldn't be teaming up with Hentera, confront Ihalo about it IC. If Ihalo then requests a duel, set the terms of the duel and then win. That's how it works. Whining never solved anything other than wimping classes and making things generally less fun.

As for Reinald, I loved him! I played Hoch and we clearly didn't see things eye-to-eye in a lot of situations. That is what made him fun, though! Keep it up, don't listen to the haters and come back with another interesting character.

Hentera is dark. Whining doesn't solve anything. I wasn't ever going to say anything about the Ihalo incident until Jennbo posted about alignment rules and what not being rules and not guidelines.

There is one question that I will always answer the exact same way, no matter when you ask me it. Punishments and rules need to be enforced as consistently as possible. Inconsistency is the main reason I ever whine about what other people do when it doesn't affect me. I have whined about getting my [REDACTED] kicked in and treated like crap, but when I whine about things that haven't affected me directly, you can bet it's because of inconsistency.

The Ihalo thing should have been handled IC. It had no place here.

Minimal interactions with Reinald, but good luck with your next.
