We offer to rename improperly named characters and often this is a good way to catch and help newbie players when they arrive. They won't lose anything if they can come up with an appropriate name.

And actually, no, it's not your place as a player. Your responsibility is to make the staff aware of a naming violation. It is not your job to enforce the rules (or even worse, exact some sort of vigilante justice).
