Ok so let me see if I can explain this. You're a merc, you get 4 attacks. You're fighting multiple targets. Let's say you kill one of the targets in one blow, wouldn't it make sense that if you got four attacks you would be able to carry over some of those attacks automatically to your next foe?

So instead of waiting a full round before you start attacking again you immediately finish your attacks on your new target.

So yeah that's my idea, it could even be made to be swashie only since they could use some love and would help their overall damage output in the long run of a battle I think.

Maybe "attack carry over" would be a better name for it.

No, melee carries enough damage.

lol no.

Let's say you're DMing D&D and one of your [REDACTED] powergaming friends has the "supreme cleave" feat. Then your [REDACTED] friend kills an enemy, and thus the conditions of the cleave feat are met. Your [REDACTED] friend then goes on a killing frenzy, and clears the entire board of enemies because of the brokenness of the supreme cleave feat. This is a true story, btw. Stupid friends always abusing the rules of D&D and jumping off of towers and stuff because of the damage cap on falling.

Happiest day of my DMing is when I murdered my friend's dervish character and put an end to his gangnam styling across the map with his 80 foot movement, and moving in and out freely between attacks.

OMG. I ran a Wheel of Time tabletop game where one of the players had a warder with the "great cleave" feat (pretty much the same as supreme cleave in DnD). Literally mowed down 35 trollocs before the cleave affect ran out. That was like half of the horde they were facing. The aes sedai in the part was like "[REDACTED], uh, what do I do now?"

I think this could be a really cool skill for swashies at least.

How often do you really end up killing someone, having attacks left that you don't get, and having that actually matter?

Then a spellcaster cast one spell and ruined the game forever.

I don't understand people who cry about melee in D&D 3E / 3.5E.

I'd like to see your spellcaster cast a spell against a guy with 80 foot movement, and who always went first, or walk into an anti-magic field and own it up.

Yeah, spellcasters in D&D can be ridiculous, but they can't do everything.

A shame I failed to convince my friend who played a gray guard to jump into a cloudkill spell and grapple an enemy so he couldn't get away...and he got away...
