Is there any reason why these two have so much different HP ratings? The Air elemental is almost an exact carbon copy of the fire elemental. Both fly, both e-parry, both have energy hide and have practically the same immunity vs weaponry but the fire elemental seems to have far, far, far more HP, it seems.

Is there any way we could stream line elementals a bit and make water, earth and air a bit more viable than just -every- warlock roaming around with a fire elemental? It wouldn't be a big deal as it would give warlocks a bit of variety and some utility as well.

Edit: I don't mean to sound ungrateful, as the warlock buff package was indeed awesome. I'd just like to see elementals other than fire. It seems like it'd be a simple change to just bring the other 3 up to par with the fire elemental's standards.

I agree. I have thought for a long time that they should all be equally powerful and simply have different skills the warlock could use depending on the situation.

I think it's the way it is because you can't start off with a fire elemental. You don't get access to them until level 40, so as far as -that- is concerned, they need to be the strongest. If they were all equal, then why have it a tiered system as it now? And if you do make them all equal, you also need to code in a way to scale them to the level of the warlock(As far as I know, the only scaling they have is the indirect HP scaling which is based on the warlock).

It's not really a simple, clean cut fix as to "Just make them equal!".

Why not just have the elemental level as the character levels? There would be variety amongst warlocks if they were all equal. But their weaknesses should play off one another so they aren't op. fire vs water etc

They do level up somewhat. At least, I know their resistances get better. And I always preferred air elemental over fire, except when in group combat. fire makes a decent tank (except against ice npcs), but i'd rather have a GM'd merc or barb tanking, than a fire elemental. When solo though, air elementals adds some punch to chain lightning. if i was in 1 vs 1, i'd rather an air elemental.
As for resistances, if you cast an air elemental, and use chain lightning, the elemental is immune...but if you level up, and have the same elemental still, and chain lightning again, the elemental gets hurt. but the next one you cast is again immune (cast at a higher level.)

i dunno, does that count for something?
