What hellions have you played in the past? I played Turon, and he did pretty well for himself, and since then hellions have gained cleaving massive weaponry and impairment on maledictions at the cost of no longer having selectable stances on their dominates.

Hellions get intimidate, which is a sick nasty skill. They can maledict their weapons and they also get cleave to open battles: An aim mid cleave on a melee character has a decent chance of totally severing or mangling an arm, which pretty much screws them over. You can hold dominate and still cast every other spell you need in combat, and the extra meat shield/basher that dominate gives you can make a huge difference. If you're a finesse player you can also gain access to taunt through dominate.

Hellions have a great amount of versatility, and hellfire is a pretty decent damage spell even on non-centaurs unless you're dealing with a very well enchanted and spelled up PC. They also get access to heavy armor, and I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say that they have bad HP.
