I think the answer is this. Give them a racial flaw that says that it decreases their dexterity down to 20 or something. then let them have at it!

Could always add an inherent flaw into the sprite race that they are never allowed to wear anything heavier than light armor.

Bollocks. I don't get the paranoia about it. It'd be good, but not overpowering. Priests still don't get the thing that makes sprites so powerful - dodge.

Their strength is somewhat of an inherent limiter, as well.
