Half elves are vulnerable to iron, but are they as vulnerable to it as elves/deep elves, or is their damage penalty only half of what full elves get?

Their vulnerability is half of what elves have, I think. If it's not exactly half, I'm pretty sure it's significantly lower.

There is no "halfway vulnerable" state. You are either vulnerable or you aren't.

I didn't realize that. Even if it were only half vulnerability, I would never play a half-elf instead of a human, unless I were doing a bard or maaaybe a hellion in the Ain religion. Despite being inferior mechanics-wise, though, there are always a ton of half-elves in the game.

Why only a hellion in the Ain religion?

There was a time when half-elves did not have the iron vulnerability. Half-elf used to be the premier choice of melee classes.

There is a unique sacred item for the Ain religion that scripts ironguard. There are only a couple of other items that script IG.

Half-Elves to have one advantage in that they have darkvision, which can be useful, especially for Rogues who do not want to wear glowing items.
