Even though we were on opposite ends, I enjoyed him. I hope you come back and look past the games faults. :D

I think the biggest complaint, really, would have to be in this character's timing.

Ciadel was an interesting character, and it was definitely interesting to see some internal conflict within the lighties. But his timing suuuucked: at the time, Syn was roflstomping everyone with Keleza, and the darkies typically outnumbered the lighties by no less than 2:1. Ciadel took control of a virtually vacant faction at that point, and cut the only real lifeline of support that the Hammer (which took a beating when Pilnor was not online).

In short: this was an excellent character, and there is room for this kind of snowflake on SK; but you've got to pick more appropriate times to spark intra-aura conflict.

Sticking to your principals instead of automatically lumping things into Team Lightie vs Team Darkie is a good thing. That doesn't mean I necessarily agree with all the decisions that I hear Ciadel made, but it did create a lot of interesting RP, as this thread can attest. As long as you can defend your decision based on your alignment and the goals of the faction, I'm not going to strenuously object if you go away from traditional alliances.

I really didn't mind Ciadel that much when I was playing, because everyone IC was on the side of sensibility and generally just ignored him until he started deporting people he barely even knew.

I'm coming down on Oldesword hard now because judging by his posts here he was actually OOCly sore about the fact that his RP was ultimately shut down by the IMM in charge of directing his kingdom. There is certainly plenty of room for making interesting RP that doesn't fit the status quo, but that RP shouldn't involve a light-aura (especially of Zavijah) saying that someone's alignment is completely irrevelant, even going so far in that belief that he thinks marrying a deep-elf is a good idea. * Not unless, of course, he doesn't mind everyone thinking he is crazy, which is mostly what happened.

Snowflakes are cool, but they melt really fast when they're based off of someone's OOC ideals being integrated into the game in spite of the game's rules. While this does come across as me only blasting Oldesword, because I partly am, I'm doing so in an attempt to make it clear that the game is more fun when you keep its rules in mind.

I am past the point of arguing about the game. This should not be an OOC issue.

Ciadel's conflict with the Hammer was the biggest question of his life (and a lot of his dealings with the dark factions dealt with his feeling like he had to clean up the mess made by the Hammer and his predecessors when they broke from Taslamar's laws and policy before peace had a chance) and this defined much of his RP so I thought I would explain his thoughts and feelings behind it. That is all. I am generally satisfied with him as I started with a concept and the character changed, developed, and matured overtime. I usually didn't like how quickly time flows in SK but it did give me the opportunity to play a character through multiple life phases and that was an interesting challenge. There were a few moments when his RP touched on my emotions in a way that wasn't just rage (when I hit the 'rage' point I'd go play something else) which indicates to me that I started viewing and sympathizing with him as his own person. I run into the same issue with writing or reading when an identifiable character hits a certain point in his or her life.

It has been interesting to see what other people thought of Ciadel and I definitely appreciate the kind words but now I've said my piece and it is time to move on. Checking the forums regularly isn't really taking care of RL.

Farewell, SK. Thanks for the good times and good friends.

Edoras, I think you're missing the fun of a character with a strong worldview, even if that worldview is a bit odd by SK standards. Instead of getting a well-fitting cog in the PK machine, we get a character that spurs in-game discussions and unusual events. And all the better if the character's eccentricity invokes an occasional headshaking smile. He's making a much better impression for SK than you are at the moment.

Nor can you seriously claim Ciadel's views were ICly near-insane, when you endorse them on this thread:

Sure sounds like getting the Hammer to move elsewhere solves Exile's problem. And I am shocked, SHOCKED that killing darkies didn't bring a peace-loving character around to Pilnor's way of thinking.

Sure, there are limits to snowflake characters. The Peacekeeper leader that surrendered the city to the Midnight Council was removed. Alignment-changing characters get deleted. But there's a difference between making a hash of the help files, and not accepting the status-quo.

Umm, you obviously don't understand hammer RP then. "Getting the hammer to move elsewhere" would never happen, as the hammer of light is the queens personal army and serves the queen just as much as the peacekeepers.

I think we should all agree that the Hammer of Light is [REDACTED].

I agree with this.

The Crucible, Druids, Fist, and Harlequins are also all [REDACTED].
