I'm sure you could breed something to hate a certain race. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be the case with elves, but there's no reason to suppose that they couldn't be born with an aversion to or hatred of deep-elves.

Do you know the difference between a dolphin and porpoise? They do, and the dolphins will kill the porpoise on sight.

Also, SK is a fantasy realm. Not real life.

Requirements of the game don't like being called [REDACTED] or moronic, Mr. Shade_Blade. Refusing to follow said requirements could lead to unfortunate circumstances for you and your characters.

Yeah, sorry, [REDACTED] this character. Seriously, [REDACTED] him. I was excited at first and he turned out to be totally worthless!

Read help enmity, it's in the rules of the game.

I met Marshall and my first thought was awesome - damaged goods, we'll eventually get him healed even if it takes a while and have a rad Hammer rogue. But no. You just wanted to play an evil elf who thought deep-elves were all right. Fail!

Pretty sure that is called a deep-elf.

I never met marshall, so perhaps this is the wrong place for this post but I am going to go ahead and leave it here since the player brought up the notion of enmity.

The concept of enmity in SK is not something learned or environmental, it is innate. One doesn't have to play enmity the same as another, but it cannot and should not be ignored. I played a deep elf for over 3 rl years and while I was never big into the PK scene and a bit of a diet darkie, I feel that my character would interact with elves in such a way as to show her disdain for them.

Upon reading your background and concept it seems really solid and to be honest, I think that rather than ignoring enmity it would have been even more incredible for you to have explored the notion that upon meeting a deep elf, noticing a sudden and deep feeling of unrest and disgust. The character would not have understood this due to his complete (although it seems unlikely that having a deep elf as the leader of the council he would not have known of them) lack of experience with them. This would have allowed for a much greater exploration of who and what he actually was. It isn't so much the lighties "turning" him, but of helping him become more than just the slave. With Paedrig being the high priest of Zavijah it would seem even more awesome to me that he would help Marshall to reach a state of enlightenment through this and through understanding. As well le sigh.

I suppose I just wish people were more creative about elven/deep elven enmity. It could be so rich and interesting and this seemed like a great starting off point, but instead you chose to completely disregard it and seemed proud of it even. :/

I read the helpfiles, and was completely understanding if i got cursed for it, or recieved in game grief because of it. Emnity is stupid, because its an opinionated reason for hatred towards a specific group. My elf was not prejudice in any means, especially because he grew up with racial hate towards him by humans, why should he hate others for who they are? It says in the help files it was made into account because there was a civil war in Ayamaoa, which resulted in a specific clan of *elves* being chased under ground, turning them into deep-elves over a course, and that makes us hate them. I was not born in Ayamaoa. I was not a part of this age old war. I was never hated on in game by deep-elves for being and elf, and because of that my character had no reason to hate them. But, I understand the structure of the game, and will stick by my opinion, and will also accept whatever punishment the immortals may have for me regarding my interactions as an elf, with deep-elves.

You're entitled to your opinion that enmity is stupid. That's an argument to be had out of character - you don't get anywhere arguing with the ref about whether or not the tuck rule is [REDACTED] in the middle of the game though, and that's what you did. When you throw the rulebook out like that you make a character that a lot of us just don't want to bother with.

You chose to completely disregard the rules, even after claiming to read the help files where it specifically states how it must be roleplayed. You did not roleplay a true elf by how they must be played. If you didnt want to innately hate a race then dont pick a race with an innate hatred for another race. It's that simple, you cannot just simple bend and break rules because it's not something you like to do or roleplay. You had the choice of picking something like human or half-elf but instead you picked elf, and therefore you should have followed how their roleplay is.
