My main thesis is that charmies do not need to recall with the charmer, and it will be fine. My hellion got charmed by casts from PCs a grand total of once, and he was at constant war with Ealuriel: And that was before they nerfed sorcs too.
Pilnor could have beaten the trash out of any sorc, especially one so bad that his main move was charm person and recall: And he wouldn't have bothered attacking one in defending territory any more than he would have bothered attacking Keleza in the moot, because he was a freaking mercenary and not a swashie or other caster. If it takes you more than 3-4 rounds to either neutralize a sorc or force them to go ethereal in a group battle, then you're doing it wrong and you're probably going to lose. If, however, you play against a sorc correctly, then you're going to put him on the defensive before the first 4 rounds of combat are over, and that means that if he's spamming charm person he's going to die, or otherwise he's going to go ethereal or recall.
