So the current suggestion seems to be more about making a successful PC charm as rare as a critical cleave or headbutt knockout? Sounds acceptable to me.

It does sound acceptable. The problem is..a sorceror can easily do 20 drive-by charm attempts with 0 risk to the sorc(and it's not even a crime if it's a trib member you're casting it on. And if it lands on a trib member, it's STILL NOT A CRIME). While a hellion has to be within weapon reach, lag themselves /after/ the command, and doesn't get MI. And a barb obviously has to be up front to headbutt, and that has a chance to completely backfire and knock /you/ out.

Sorcs have much less risk involved in doing anything than any other class, so I think having petrification, and access to backstabbing NPCs/cleaving NPCs/headbutting NPCs/FoD scrolls/etc is enough "I win" for them.

Make sorcs unable to charm PCs.

As someone else said, consenting players could still RP it, tbh. And it doesn't really get RPd without consenting players anyways. Nothing more than a few lines of crappy dialogue, anyways.

And, off to bed I go.

The problem with a lot of willpower spells is magical protection doesn't affect them. It's like reflex spells get affected by mp and ref. some fortitude spells do, and then you have willpower spells.

I'm pretty sure that the problem with charm person is not that it ignores MP. Though if MP made you resist CP, that'd be cool, too, I guess.

He's whipped. I guess that's the downside of having a "hot" girlfriend.

Ain't no way you get 20 drive-by attempts at no risk unless the person you're trying to charm is a clueless newbie.

Also, I think "New to Pyrathia" should be reverted back to "clueless newbie." That was great.

I thought it would be funnier to make a respectful post, since a few players (like yourself) would immediately know what I was really thinking.

And Edoras, you can get 20 drive-by attempts if the person actually tries to engage you in combat. Obviously if they have detects up and recall at the sight of you, they'll avoid getting charmed. If they actually try to fight, they'll just get charmed, though.

That's why you break out ranged and go to town or just don't hold still long enough to get charmed. Dirt kicking a sorc when you have high dex is pretty easy, and avoiding charm against someone who is outlawed in a city is a cakewalk.

I suppose my thing is that every single class has options against a sorc that don't involve placing yourself in harms way for long if at all, and that's if for some reason you are fighting on neutral territory and 1v1, which frankly, is stupid.

Too bad a sorc who uses charm person will never get outlawed, and one with MI won't get dirt kicked before he casts charm. It's too bad I never got rolling with Joseph. There would have been a river of tears on the forums and charm would have been changed within a few weeks of pvp.

Range isn't an option with most classes. When I did face someone with ranged combat, I just zapped stone skin and then had Waish taunt them so I could charm them.

It also seems like a weak argument to say that CP isn't OP because you can always leave the room when a sorc enters.

Same with necros, o all kill is pretty nice too, but you don't have to stand in the same room, so why do it?

Also, if you're trying to charm a trib member, you are eventually going to get outlawed or die because when your NPCs engage in combat with their guards, you get outlawed.
