Can we PLEASE just rid the game of bounty NPCs?

If you want to, have a "scout" NPC on CB say they have spotted outlaw X and Y in the area of QQ. That is by far a more fun thing.

I agree with this completely.

Because laws can't only be enforced when tribunals are patrolling in strength, especially at current player counts.

I doubt the inactive tribunals are bothered much nor need the bounty NPCs to uphold the law. I have never spent much time up north with Farine, no real point. But with an active midnight council, I often go east. If they where inactive laws are generally less likely to be broken since there isn't a need to break them. Make sense?

Tragonis, how about the law punishing PK in cities? That needs to be enforced regardless of whether there's anyone in a tribunal, to protect conversational RP. If everyone is always afraid of being killed for no good reason, conversations just die. If your killing is strictly limited, so are the charges against you.

The whole premise that PK shouldn't take place in cities because it restricts RP is completely idiotic. I'm not going to write an essay explaining why, though. Just take my word for it that I'm right.

*eyeroll* Whoever said PK shouldn't take place in cities? Lots of good stories happen there, including ones that include PK.

The punishment is there to limit PK "for no good reason". And I've seen a MUD where not restricting such PK led to characters fleeing in terror when spoken to. This did not make for an interesting roleplay environment.

I was under the impression that pk "for no good reason" was actually against the rules.
