It costs 6 platinum, 3 copper to resize a wicked pole-axe mounted on a sharp spike

I know someone pointed out this before, I couldn't find the thread. Really though I'm not going to attempt to make sense of this and just say.. wtf?

Edit: Btw this is resizing something from large to tiny, and the similar post that was made before was commenting about the scrap metal that would have been gained by the smith. That aside I don't think it should be that expensive whether or not it's enlarging or shrinking. That alone could be a turn off to new players whom are making large/small characters.

I wish there were a way to find out how much repairing/resizing an item costs before you actually repair/resize it. Unless I'm mistaken, there's no equivalent to the value command for these actions.

Repair costs can be seen by using "list" at a blacksmith: Everything in your inventory that isn't "brand new" will appear with a price.

Resize costs can't be seen, but I think they're normally on the same level as repair costs for that item, being based on item worth: Granted, if the item is brand new, you have to guess, which is pretty annoying (Though in Zellidon's case he was resizing a mithril pole-axe, not newbie area gear).

Another note, it costs more to resize it to greater lengths, say you want to go from small to large, it'll cost more than going from small to medium.

I know all that, I'm just annoyed whenever I have to get a new set on a sprite it costs me at least 5 obsidian resizing it all. And you're gonna say I should just find a mage to resize I know. I prefer smiths because it'll retain it's size if it's faded during enchanting, if I get the armor enchanted by a priest and it fades it'll go back to normal size if it's mage resized and that's annoying if there's no mages around to size it again after the enchanting is done. Also I'm one of those people who think the magical resize spells screw with enchanting too.

Get a mage to do it to small, then get a smith to do the last part?

Sizing screws with enchants. Most people aren't willing to magically size before enchanting, Viltrax. Especially considering if you fade it, it goes back to whatever size it was beforehand.

He was acknowledging that in his post by saying that since items are more expensive to resize multiple sizes, if you had a giant item you wanted resized to tiny, you could shrink it to size small magically, then size it to tiny afterwards: Effectively taking care of both problems at the same time.

I wonder if that would actually work.

I'm thinking it wouldn't.
