I've an OOC question, is there a boundry for IC harassment? I seriously have an idiot of a certain tribunal who will not stop following me everywhere I go. No matter what I do the punk continues to follow me, making it hard to play a character or even level cause he believes he is the law and can just follow me around because I'm a deep-elf. This is getting utterly annoying to the point where I'm starting to get annoyed with this game.

You're an evil deep-elf. Just kill him or have him killed.

This is a problem I've brought up.

There is no limit to how much they can harrass you. They probably won't stop either. Not giving your enemies, despite how weak or inexperienced they are, any chance to RP their way out of the situation makes you a cool kid. It's considered RP, even though I always perfer to give people options. It usually leads to follow up RP that would be better than OMG UR EVIL I KEEL U!

From the PvP perspective, they like to beat on newbs and add another "victory" to their list.

Best advice I've got is to try and find ways to deal with it IC. Meet new people, ask them for help or ask the people you already know.

I agree, and to add more context to my previous post, this is definitely best dealt with ICly. If you're not a fan of being harassed or treated poorly by people just because you're a deep-elf, maybe a different race would be a better choice.

There isn't really a limit to how much of a jackass someone can be while playing this game. Basically, if they're not abusing a bug, transfering IC info through OOC means, or violating the RP required of their alignment, they're allowed to do whatever they want. This is a good thing and a bad thing that separates SK from other games. There's a huge amount of freedom, which in my opinion opens up the door for a wide variety of interesting and realistic roleplay. Of course, on the other side of things, there's nothing stopping people from being jerks to each other. I feel that once people get a hang of game mechanics and can pvp a little, they usually see this as a good tradeoff.

This is definitely not something that can be handled OOC. You -might- try a simple "sayto xxx OOC hey, i'm really new to this game, and just trying to level. any chance you could cut me some slack or something?" If they happen not to be a complete and utter DBag, there's a chance this will it work. If it doesn't, I would suggest contacting your local deep-elf sorc and having him gangrape whoever is bothering you.

You're a drow?
Type the following:

sneak
auto follow
random direction
recall

and then pick a direction and be on your way

If the tribunal member in question has tracking, use a mount, or for bonus points, a flying mount that is flying.

Also, fun fact: you cannot get reported for attacking a tribunal member in their home turf. You can only get reported for the crimes against their guards or for murdering them all the way. So mode stun + backstab + get whatever person = victory. Same for mode stun + cast 'charm person' annoying person.

In the end though, the currency of SK is annoyance. That's the only lasting thing you can get from or give to other characters. The game is structured to promote and enable grief. Don't like it? Do what the 70+ people who used to login did, and find another game.

Or just greet them or go hang out in another city :p

To uh, further address this, because it's my character he's talking about, I can't believe you actually brought it to the forums. The "harassment" you're talking about is something that any deep-elf that visits the city my guy tribunals for gets to experience, and you know what, I don't think it's bad RP at all. If anything, I think it reveals a lack of understanding about the basic characteristics of deep-elfs for you to take it as ooc douchery. I followed you around for -maybe- 5 minutes, tops, so I refuse to take [REDACTED] for affecting your ability to level; I completely stopped bothering once you left the main road, and if you'd left the city I wouldn't have followed (Like grep said, there need to be limits). If your character had greeted mine, mine wouldn't have got all uppity with yours (limits? a way to RP out of situations? OH GOD). At no point in time did I attack you, come close to attacking you, steal anything of yours, grief your pet, or try to get you outlawed. I can't think of any way shape or form in which you possibly constituted this as harassment. Maybe you should consider not playing a twisted and evil deep-elf - after all, it's right there in the help file that you ought to expect things like this. If anything, I think the entire playerbase (gray and darky included, perhaps most so) doesn't react realistically (within the terms of realism set by the game) to deep-elfs most of the time.

The short story is htfu. Sorry.

I'd add that there are expectations for races of known alignment. If you travel in areas not suited to that alignment, the natural assumption is that you WANT some IC confrontation. Some players are more interested in this than in levelling or exploration.

This sort of interaction is unlikely to get you attacked, as long as you avoid open defiance. So you have lots of options to play with, including recall if you just don't want to deal with this. I'd encourage you to look as this as an opportunity. All the PvE stuff will be there next time you log in.
