You know I'm all for moderation and all, but Kafriel's post was perhaps the most brilliant contribution to these forums to date. Deleting it was just unfair to the people who didn't yet catch a chance to laugh and be enlightened by it. Too bad.

Since when are flames not allowed in afterlife posts?

Ever since you're only allowed to flame in GD.

I'm sad Kafriel's post got deleted and I missed it. At least Sklz made me laugh.

I don't intend on flaming the player, but the character did little more than sit around in her HQ with hoards of EQ that she never/rarely used. Occasionally she would harass other players and abuse tarnish/blemish.

I never played a Zavijahan or Fist so I did not personally experience this, but I heard way too many stories of her griefing other players for little reason.

I'll never forget the time she abused the hero tournament faulty spell code and didn't get punished, either.

I didn't notice any flaws in her grasp of English, though. Maybe fellow Europeans are too hard on each other.

Vak is a good player and it's a shame he's retired for good. This is the second character of his that I've rolled with for some time, and this MUD needs some of what he's got. Say what you want, but he RPs well and often and he has the initiative to create RP. As much as Linarumien was criticized for hiding and circle jerking, during my old character's time (Ryoichi's) Linarumien was definitely a major shaper of events. Linarumien played out the role Vak made for her, and imo did it pretty well, but the success is obviously mixed into the eyes of the beholders. It was meant to be the role of a Dumbledore-esque character, a super powerful, super wise, reclusive individual who you would only rarely get to see unleash their power, who mostly dealt in the politics.

As Vak admits, with proper humility, it's not easy to actually come off as Dumbledore. Furthermore the nature of that person is that they would essentially be labeled as a hoarder (since they'd have good items and barely fight). To a certain extent, I do believe Vak was a bit afraid to die, because it would stain his image of Linarumien. But ICly it seemed to fit together enough.

Anyway I think you did more good than bad. Your characters are confident and active in their prime, and you have that drive that tries to actually do interesting things in the game rather than endlessly PK one another in wars that never end and change nothing when they do. Unfortunately, like with Aurius, after a while Linarumien just sort of became an inactive and occasional presence that lingered around. Oh well, it happens.

GL with being Greek and stuff :P

I feel I understand the situation much better now.

Somehow I doubt this is the last afterlife thread we'll see of this variety.

Vaknafien was a good player. His characters had great rp. He was more of a story teller and rper then alot of other people. Some of the events he would preside over were of epic quality. I always felt he was reaching for something, like maybe making a band of hero's like you would read about in a novel. He always tried to involve everyone.

Sometimes he could be rude, but he was usually being that way while drunk. but that's a flaw you can find in alot of Skers and they don't have to be drunk to show it. I'd take Vaknafien over alot of other "retired greats" that are around critisizing him on the forums and some current players. People who because they played 10 years ago think they were good and have the right to judge Vaknafien really bug me because some were some weren't.

What can you say. I played under him in the KoS and I played again under him in the Hammer of light. I was never really involved with linarumien, but from what I saw this was a good player. It's sad to see another old vet finally give it up. Makes me wonder who's next. Alot of the best players SK has don't play anymore, like Mitch.

Just remember the most important thing about Vaknafien when you make your posts following this one. You may not call him Spiros. Glad I got to play with you Vaknafien/Aurius/Linarumien hope you had some fun too.

Bye. :drunk:

SK Character: Phreya, Kouin, Nosephthyki
When I first started playing SK, there was this group of elves that seemed to me to be a driving force in the game, Lina, Sithara, Lirimaer and Alleli. I feel pretty happy about being able to get to know each of them in different ways through the course of my first character.

Lina was always very off putting for me and I think it was more so because our characters were so vastly different in mentality. But I did always have a great time in whatever RP I had with her. Sure she/the player may have hoarded, but I am not really one for loot anyway, so it never really bothered me at all.

Time went on, I got a bit burnt out and took a break to return later with Nosephthyki. I thought pretty much all of the old characters I had RPed with in the past were dead and gone when one night up pops Lina on the who list. I cannot for the life of me recall if Lina contacted Thyki first or if it was the other way around. But suffice to say I enjoyed every last interaction I had with her. Whether it was her threatening Thyki, to showing a desire to redeem her and various things in between. I was able to get a whole new perspective on the character both from her own evolution and my differing point of view. So thanks for that.

I've grown very inactive in the past few months and I really am sorry to have missed her end. I am glad you are keeping the ghost around for now. Perhaps if sadal wills it Thyki and Lina will meet again. If not, it was fun.

I should get two things out of the way, before the main body of my post.

Firstly. Erevan, I know you're an anime-phile, but the 'side part' hairstyle in Lina's description does not fit her, at all. Ancient, wise Sylvar elves should not capitulate to the fashion of young, emaciated, trying-too-hard fan girls in socks that go up to their knees. And don't sleep with Sithara. Just, don't.

Secondly, I acknowledge that, in my ooc contact with him, the player himself was very difficult at times, stemming from the same utter disregard of other people's opinions that made his character truly great.

Now then.

This character was the most profound impact on the life of my own first worthwhile, Aiden. For both being Principled Zavijan Fisties, they found enough to not have in common to still have a plurality of rich interactions. Early in his life, she was a damper on Aiden, and tempered a young, idealistic, headstrong griffon into as much of a patient, wise monk and Zavijan as she could manage.

She was very seldom seen in battle, while Aiden was frequently running out, mostly or entirely naked, to hack and slash at the Benjamin-lead north of the time. In Aiden's later life, during a leadership crisis of the Swan, Aiden began to see her less as a child sees his mother, but as an adult might. He trusted her leadership more than his own, but saw her as politically untenable, and so assumed control in her stead while exacting her wishes less reluctantly than even she may have implemented them.

In all, she was a dynamic character, with the perfect arrogant and assuming nature of an elf, mellowed out by the benevolence and kindness of a priestess, a monk and an old woman. She was the decisive mother-figure to Aiden, the only person (save perhaps Yuni) who he would never question or subvert.

Good show Vak, the hate you dredge up from some whiny players have provided me with entertainment.

I do so enjoy those that whine instead of actually doing something about it in game when said player was around.
