If you can't sit down to cast gate with a charm, you probably are willing to accept gating to portal stones via scroll.

I can cast a gate while sitting. I was just hoping I didn't have to. That's why I was looking for a number. But, saying I can't as a gnome is good enough for me. Thanks guys.

Unless you make a deep-elf, you will always have to sit down to make a gate with a charm.

22 int is the bare minimum needed to play a sorc, since it allows Charm/Gate. 23 is a million times better, since it allows Charm/MI/Gate. 25 int is just gravy.

I think a human (23 int) can hold charm and cast gate while standing.

I'm not sure though because I never dropped MI. I can say for sure that a human can hold charm, MI, and cast gate while sitting.
