Very well said. I do agree with you on this. This is why I had mentioned at the end of my initial post that this was just an idea. I just happened to think it made a fair amount of sense is all.

what the . . .
I meant mechanics-wise . . . humans are very strong. Why did you respond by saying what is fun for you to rp?

Human is a better choice for sorc than gnome. The 23 intelligence is huge.
Human is a much better choice for rogue than anything else. 25 strength backstab? roflownage
Deep-elf is obviously the best choice for necromancer (you realize a human necromancer is just as vulnerable to holy attacks, right?)

@Sakhul: Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but I'd say that humans are the best choice for a majority of classes, and a solid choice for any class.

Mercenary: human
Barbarian: human/dwarf
Swashbuckler: helf/human
Rogue: human
Bard: helf

Hellion: human/helf
Paladin: human
Priest: pretty much anything, halfling is nice
Shaman: human/gnome
Sorcerer: delf/human
Necromancer: delf
Warlock: pretty much anything, halfling is still nice

The only mechanical reasons to choose anything other than human are size (halfling for tanking, centaur/giant for damage), intelligence for a darkie caster (deep-elf), charisma for a bard or hellion or to order a tribunal NPC sometimes (half-elf), and magic resistance (halfling). It's hands-down the best race.

I never said anything about RP. The phrase RP or role play was never uttered in any of my posts. I mentioned each of these races based on their special attributes and abilities that would make them exceptional at their class.

I rolled a halrequin sprite rogue once. Mastered parry, dodge, dagger and sword, maxed my dex, had less than half of my max weight taken up at all times and mastered a specific cabal skill. I was attacked and attacked and attacked, ALONE, and attacked over and over again. I took on entire groups of people, mainly MC mercs and barbarians, and avoided and survived 98% of my encounters. I either defeated my foes or escaped nearly unscathed. I had multiple MC members enraged at the fact that they couldn't land single bash, trip or dirt kick, no matter how hard they tried.

My point being, that would have NEVER happened with a human. Never. I would had to apply haste to get 25 dex and it would have been brief. After that I would've been down points due to the aftereffects of haste. Not to mention size does matter when referring to evasion tactics. When it comes to rogues, you need to do the surprising. If not, you'd better be able to get out of there quick and efficiently.

It all depends on how you play your characters. I enjoy half-elf hellions because of sneak and hide and invis. No need for glowing objects. My cleaves back then put any other ambush to shame.

I am not trying to be the devil's advocate and I'm not trying to be argumentative at all. I am just stating my personal opinion on whether I think humans are a all around better choice for most classes. Obviously you play differently than I, which is fine.

And by the way, yes I am aware of the weaknesses of holy damage against deep-elves vs. humans. Thank you :D

So... uh.. human is a better, for example, barb because.. of the mechanical reasons to pick a race that does more damage? Such as minotaurs, centaurs and giants?

Humans may not have any weaknesses and they do have the stat selection that fits excellently with a lot of classes, but that list you made is highly debatable.

Hammarb minotaur, hammer sprite shaman and call them something like Cow and chicken... Now that would be awesome rp.

Thank you. I am glad I am not alone in this. I cannot agree more.

This is nothing personal, Baldric and Le Petit Prince. I just think that each race has it's own benefits. Some are greater than others, yes. However, there are playable races other than humans for a reason. You talk about 25 strength for raw damage output with backstab, which is a good idea, but not willing to consider giants and dwarfs for other classes? They are just raw damage distributors and just take beating after beating. I am not disagreeing with you that a human makes a good choice sometimes. I have an alternate character that's a darkie shaman and he's human. I just cannot say that about every class. Sorry
