I meant mechanics-wise . . . humans are very strong. Why did you respond by saying what is fun for you to rp?
Human is a better choice for sorc than gnome. The 23 intelligence is huge.
Human is a much better choice for rogue than anything else. 25 strength backstab? roflownage
Deep-elf is obviously the best choice for necromancer (you realize a human necromancer is just as vulnerable to holy attacks, right?)
@Sakhul: Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but I'd say that humans are the best choice for a majority of classes, and a solid choice for any class.
I never said anything about RP. The phrase RP or role play was never uttered in any of my posts. I mentioned each of these races based on their special attributes and abilities that would make them exceptional at their class.
I rolled a halrequin sprite rogue once. Mastered parry, dodge, dagger and sword, maxed my dex, had less than half of my max weight taken up at all times and mastered a specific cabal skill. I was attacked and attacked and attacked, ALONE, and attacked over and over again. I took on entire groups of people, mainly MC mercs and barbarians, and avoided and survived 98% of my encounters. I either defeated my foes or escaped nearly unscathed. I had multiple MC members enraged at the fact that they couldn't land single bash, trip or dirt kick, no matter how hard they tried.
My point being, that would have NEVER happened with a human. Never. I would had to apply haste to get 25 dex and it would have been brief. After that I would've been down points due to the aftereffects of haste. Not to mention size does matter when referring to evasion tactics. When it comes to rogues, you need to do the surprising. If not, you'd better be able to get out of there quick and efficiently.
It all depends on how you play your characters. I enjoy half-elf hellions because of sneak and hide and invis. No need for glowing objects. My cleaves back then put any other ambush to shame.
I am not trying to be the devil's advocate and I'm not trying to be argumentative at all. I am just stating my personal opinion on whether I think humans are a all around better choice for most classes. Obviously you play differently than I, which is fine.
And by the way, yes I am aware of the weaknesses of holy damage against deep-elves vs. humans. Thank you
