I already have a command I type before I enter into situations where I may be forced into combat and unable to react swiftly. I assume bards can opt-in to the same feature. Its not perfect, but its saved me a couple times.

I'm not entirely sure wimpy works, but it might. The other thing to consider, though, is most of the NPCs worth using persuade on track, and detect.

Whenever anyone talks about persuade, all I can think of is "These are not the droids you are looking for."

If I remember well, persuasion does not allow NPCs to drop certain items. IE: the stock of a shopkeeper, certain decorative items the NPC wears, items that have been bound on the NPCs via certain scripts.

Persuasion does not allow a bard to force a NPC or a PC to drop an item of any kind, or to give that item to the bard or another person. The most it can do is force a NPC or PC to remove item X. Remove all is restricted from persuade's use as well, as is release all.

Well, not the last time I played a bard. I remember selling gems to leprechauns and persuading them to drop them afterwards. I guess they changed it ever since.

Yeah, they did Juggs.. I played a GM bard for a while and pretty much agree with OA on this one.

Just out of curiousity, but I always thought it was just Willpower that got in the way of persuasion, but when a High MR, lowish willpower mage agreed to let my character practice on him, she wasn't able to persuade him even once.

OA, you know a lot more about bards than I do, What are all the factors that go into play?

I do believe it is a raw cha vs. wis check. As a sorc he probably had a high wis.

So hold on a minute...

A failed bash won't start combat, but a failed persuade will?

My world just ended a little.
