By no means am i asking WHERE any object is, first off.

But i am curious as i stumble around in the dark, I can't seem to find a staff that reaches like a pole-mace does. People in-game either tell me there isn't any, or have me run to this shop or that, looking for one. So, i've come to the thought that there just isn't any? And if there isn't.. why not? its just a big stick, right?

I know of several pole-maces off-hand. Staves due to their general use don't have reach however.

I will agree that there is a general shortage of pole-maces however.

One of the problems with finding a pole-mace is that they're highly sought after by priests, given that it's the only reaching weapon a priest can actually use (save crossbows).

As such it's a bit of a crapshoot if you're trying to find one. My best advice would be to find a friendly priest/sorc to help you by locating one: Otherwise there's no guarantee that it will actually be in the place that they advise you to look for it in.

Spells give more exp than melee. It's easier to just cast from behind a pet.

Having the pole-mace isn't so much about the damage it deals as a priest, but just the targeting headaches it solves having it.

Lucky priests.

Sorcerers get nothing but crossbows and, if there is such a thing, reaching staffs.

Unless things have changed you could just wield any reaching weapon then. You'll never hit anything with it but it'll take care of the targeting thing.

Oh i know about Pole-maces, you can buy them in the shops. I was mostly looking for a staff that reaches, I know i get more xp from casting, but the having something that reaches keeps you in battle, easier to see what the monster's health is.

Ah if I could only remove the polemace subtypes, I think that the problem would be solved. Priests shouldn't have reaching weapons. I'd actually prefer to see any reaching subtype removed or labeled a polearm. What makes a polemace not a polearm? Isn't a naginata a sword on the end of a stick? A halberd is a variation of poleaxe, right? I know that polemaces are limited because non-melee classes should consider it a lucky thing to have a reaching weapon. There are exotics which reach, I do believe, beyond just polemaces.

Use a one handed polearm as a sorx/necro/warlock to target, like a lance.
