Don't get me wrong - your ideas of what titles are like aren't wrong. I was responding to this:

title - looking for a touch of chaos. Makes me think of a Marfik seeker.

But then, if you put such in your titles, as soon as people identify who you are, you can conceivably expect to get hunted by the OPPOSING side or alignment of what you were trying to join - before you actually succeed in trying to join it. Which kind of blows, and isn't really that much fun - unless you're looking for that sort of attention.

I had my character invested within 4 hours of setting my title to reflect an obvious, blatant seeker status... and that was within 6 hours of making the character.

Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't, but we certainly aren't helpless right now. Just remember to be polite with each step you take, and it'll work out one way or another.

I would rather not have this kind of seeker idea involved with the automated leadership system that is planned. While I like the idea of people getting the attention of a leader, I think that the problem isn't getting the attention of the one or possibly two people with the ability to invest. I think the problem is for that one or those two people to cover all time zones and days of the week is just not realistic. If we had more people capable of investing and doing the simpler leg work of leaders, I think that such a seeker system would be made unnecessary. Spreading these more demanding parts of the leadership job out to more people is one of the very important benefits of the system as I imagine it.

Just to add, there were threads recently about a level 6 getting summoned killed based on their title alone. It happens all the time since titles are considered IC information, so it's not always the safest route to take. Most people will leave you be if you still have seeker in the title, but it's not a guarantee.

This has become a real obstacle to investment-required characters. Religions don't need any more discouragement.

Since investors are REQUIRED to accept any committed character meeting the religion's class/race/alignment standards, I see no merit in not having an NPC that can invest. He can do the releveant tests just as easily.

It's not that I haven't had fun with investment discussions, from both sides. But if the F3 makes any pretense of leading the religion, he's going to talk to followers anyway.

The in-game religion boards are awesome, and I'm sad that so many of them don't seem to be used to their full potential for communication within the faith and for seekers to make themselves known.
