Examples of what I'm talking about (and I don't mean to derail the thread, if you want to fight about light/medium/heavy bug abuse for a completely hypothetical idea system there's probably another thread to do it in):

Light abuse: dropping a charm over a city & not knowing it was illegal
Medium abuse: knowingly using a tribunal NPC's bug to kill another PC
Heavy abuse: getting to GM in four hours.

To the veterans of the mud, getting to GM isn't a big deal. Killing a loaded player who has died only a handful of times over the course of a year is a huge deal.

Light abuse: Ordering every tribunal NPC to drop their coins to get money. Disguising as your pets name.
Medium abuse: Using XP bugs.
_way_ Heavy abuse: Knowingly using buggy skills/spells/NPCs to affect pvp

I am the first to jump on the bandwagon that jennbo needs punished.

I go through this thread and all that comes to mind is a funny saying:

"Opinions are like ass-holes; Everybody has one".

D makes the rules, whether you agree or not you play by them, so respect those rules and go by them or don't play.

However, since we are diplaying our ass-holes here, I will go ahead and moon you:

I too find the ban a bit too harsh for the occasion, I 100% agree with the char deletion though.

I agree with Gilgon. The biggest issue here is the random punishments, but that is just something that happens when you get a group of people together with different ideas on what is harsh or not.

With that in mind, Dulrik HAS to be the final voice because of that very problem and he has spoken. Enough said.

I did spent some time to read as much as I could on this thread and I only have to say one thing.

When rules are being broken, it's up to the people in charge to make decisions, pass punishment, as they see fit.

Knowingly braking the rules is actually looking for trouble. As it seems, certain players found their way to that sort of trouble.

So it was up to the people in charge (immstaff and finally Dulrik) to pass the punishment as they saw fit.

Reasoning these people abused a known bug, looking for trouble, they passed out max punishment.

I don't see how complaining on their behalf here will make it any easier on them, or benefit anyone.

Were I one of the punished, and assuming I cared about the punishment, I would take it up explaining to D, via mail.

I still don't see why all the fuss about the issue. This is no courtroom to file an appeal. It's someone's game with a specific ruleset, which he/they enforce as he/they see fit. End of story.

Move along now, nothing more to see here! 8)

I'd make a nice long post disagreeing with the severity of the punishment if I thought they cared in the slightest about being banned.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they do.

So instead, yes. Perma-ban is a bit harsh, but speaking from experience most bans that start off as permabans really don't last all that long.

Punishment was just and fair in my opinion. These players were long time players and knew the quality and nature of their actions. Im sure they had expected some sort of punishment to follow as well.

I am dumbfounded that people are complaining that these people were treated unfairly. What? It's not harsh enough for Gnimral but too harsh for Mrperson13? Backstab bug does not trump infinite xp bug... yeah, no. I think what the real issue here is that MrP. is receiving a little favoritism from the player-base...

Why are we concerned about keeping players who admit to cheating, know they are going to get caught and don't care?

purge all cheat0rz

the best way to ensure a bug is fixed quickly is to exploit it.
