lol sleep was great to abuse.

It was wimped soon after you died to it by necropolis, I think that was one of the logs involved in bringing about the change.

Actually, it pretty much got immediately changed the moment I got killed once in Nerina by being put to sleep, had maledictions stacked on and then killed.

Ironically, I think Ardith was behind that one.

No, it was changed during the time I was playing Destrivai.

I remember it because Tragonis' hammer shaman and my necros were abusing the [REDACTED] out of it.

You used to be able to put someone to sleep and then put every malediction in the book on them, but now if you target them with such a spell it will wake them up.

It wasn't Destrivai. It was the necromancer alt you had when Youma was around: I clearly remember because I pretty much sent an e-mail to Dulrik about it pretty much on the spot. I even remember the room it was (the side room from the Zakami Inn, the one you walk northeast into).

I'm pretty sure it was during the time of Destrivai that it got nerfed.

In retrospect I have no idea when that went down, heh. I remember sleep being not-too-popular in my earliest days, though.

It was after art and while I had Caerbannog - Nephias, Caerbannog and Syn's deep-elf sorc had it done to them just outside of the necropolis, so it was definitely after Destrivai.

Man that was exactly what I was referring to - it was done to you guys by my priest, Gilgon. I had thought that led to it being wimped soon after. I think it was Elasachar...? who was there at the time, maybe I just made that up.

Everyone and their mother did it - the swirly marble orbs were in extremely high demand (which in turn led to the art cap on devices). I sincerely doubt a single incident ushered in the change - and if any one incident should be mentioned, it should be the sorc tourney Heldorian held, where you battled in etherealform and the first one out of the form won. Everyone slept everyone and then just gunned for a pet to land (except me in the finals, where I decided it was one hell of a good idea to polymorph into a giant and melee the other guy down - then missing my first bash and losing concentration on eth...)

And yeah, Elasachar was there too. Sleep staves suck :(

And we were originally talking about charm. Now it's sleep. You guys are distracted easy.

Charm should be left alone. I think we should add a couple other charm spells for sorcerors in specific religions, like charm animal if you are in nature or charm demon if you follow Thuban, or charm spider if you follow Sadr.

People complain that these spells unbalance the game, but have you ever played a sorcerer? If someone sneezes on you that isn't a sorcerer, you die. And as a priestess (not this one, but an earlier one), I have had sorcerer's attack me with 2 charmies. Just a quick cancellation spell and the sorcerer dies to his pets. Charms are easy enough to break as it is. Leave it alone or make it stronger. Add an order command like "Order xxx no sit" or "order xxx no say" to make the charmed so they can't sit down when you are trying to drag them off somewhere or annoy you with endless babble. Of course add maybe "Order xxx yes say" to allow them to speak again. Also, there should be more mean cursed items to torture victims with.

And people call me a control freak :(

No one is complaining about charm being used on non-pcs. The problem comes with Charm being used on PCs. It is an isntant I-win spell without restrictions.

I think what many players want is a simple rules defining from Dulrik on what is acceptable and unacceptable rp while under charm. I for one would be fine with it just the way it is as long as it couldn't be made into a scroll.
