Coming from another GM necro,I'm not much in the PK field, but I will agree, 60%+ from one single spell...
Seriously that is insane. As for the people who talk about Necros being powerful, need I remind you of Holy word? Remember that pesky room affecting dispel which any priest / Paladin has? Furthermore, priest / paladin NPCs can cast? Oh yeah and how many tribunals have priest / pally NPCs again? As it is now, anyone, especially veteran players who know what their tirbunal NPCs are, can absolutely wtfpwn a Necro. Holy word can be cast by other players as they move around, thus surprising a necro as you can literally cast them as you walk in. More than 1 holy word, and yeah, any necro army is annihilated and the necro sent packing.
As for controls, not sure what to think of them. With the damage people can dish out now, any control can be chewed through in a matter of rounds, and again, Holy word / BoG can more in likely own the concentration of that spell unless it's your only spell. The mana drain is 4% per tic. My Delf can hold up to about..3 controls with no other spells and still FoD, however theres no reason to. Even with max Int, the concentration requirement is too high and a heavy hit will completely destroy it.
I'd say Necros were overpowered if there wasn't a massive availability of holy wording / BoG'ing NPCs.
Furthermore, let's elaborate on the concentration issues. If you DO decide to use a control, yeah forget about using anything else. Spell ward? Talk about a mana drain. That spell takes up a TON of mana to hold, and the concentration I believe is fairly moderate. Not only that, I'm not sure you can actually get a wand or so of that spell, and scribing it would be a bit useless, since it'd be at it's strongest if you hold it yourself.
No matter how powerful you are, any SINGLE Direct damage spell that does that much damage needs to be looked at. A class shouldn't "have" to have insane amounts of enchantments to be played. Enchantments are supposed to be helpful, not required right?
If anything, I would say that Necros need a small boost. Not only are the undead TIMED they also hit your concentration, which to me makes no sense whatsoever. One or the other please, both is simply not cool. Once you make your "army" you have a set amount of time to prep them and attack, and then you have to time it so you can escape and be able to get the hell outta there in time, that is if everything goes according to plan, which rarely happens as we all know.
BoG is an I win spell against any Delf, I'm sorry. And if there get to be too many paladin NPCs or people that play Paladins then why even play one to begin with? For RP? Yeah, that's fine but the time will come when you have to back up your words / threats / defend yourself. A player shouldn't have to massively enchant their gear to protect from one spell. It's clear that it's overpowered..Like Zaerth said, FoD even takes 2 rounds. 2 ROUNDS to cast, and anyone with even a bit of Fortitude can take one. At most, even if it does fail it does about 25% or so. That spell just done 60%. The numbers don't really lie.
