in the words of jadakiss 'it takes somethin' ta happen for ni**as ta learn'.
unfortunately it had to be this, but that is life and he truly hasn't gone anywhere. His heart is your heart.

It is always terribly sad when someone young passes away and even twice as difficult to deal with and accept when they go by their own hand.
It's always better to recall who they were and the happier times, then what took them off this earth.

I give my condolences to all his family and friends on their loss!
May they join together and remember him fondly.

Rip, Revin.

There have been many real-world events that have affected SK's playerbase - we've discussed everything from the 9/11 attacks to marriages and yes, also deaths of players. I keep waiting for the punchline on this topic (it wouldn't be the first time), but even if the source proves to be untrue, the deeply felt replies are familiar.

On the topic of suicide, I'll say this: it's a mistake. A friend of mine who works in Sydney's morgue said they have a saying: you can tell suicides from homicides because the look on the face is one of regret - when at that last moment, they realise they've done the wrong thing and can't undo it.

Whether you grieve that it's a mistake you should have been able to help correct before it happened, or rail against someone for making such a mistake is of little consequence: because at the end of the day it was their choice ...and they chose wrongly.

I don't think I know anyone here well enough to pass on personal feelings that would have any meaning: as a mere voluntary administrator of a mere internet text game, it feels like pretty minute part of what anyone is going through. Still, for what it's worth, I wouldn't wish anyone to go through this.

If nothing else, learn from this mistake and talk to people if you're feeling depressed; and don't presume anything from outward appearances... plenty of seemingly-happy curl up and cry at night. Sometimes people find it hard to see just how better off they are - and how temporary the issues are that are affecting them. Oh and when in doubt, eat a hotdog - that always works for me. :D

Yeah, I remember reading his title when he made it, with the "Kill yourself" part in all black, so you had to highlight it to read it. I remember the first time I highlighted that after seeing his normal title for so long. I really got a laugh out of it in a way. Now I just feel awful about it. I didn't even know the guy, and I still have a horrible sinking feeling in my chest as I read this thread.

As the patron IMM of said character, it is especially tough for me at the moment not to irrationally hold myself responsible for this.

[REDACTED].

My deepest condolences to all of the survivors. I wish I knew what else to say.

He will be missed.

I had stopped him before times before or he was crying out for help and I helped him, which is making this all the more confusing for me, I knew deep down that this could happen, and im sure others knew him close had at least heard him talk about itl.... Even knowing it could happen at any moment it has still been the saddest day of my life, the largest wound I have ever felt.
Brady my brother, I loved you and I will never miss anyone as much. you were one of the most important people in my life and I hoped you always knew this, I couldnt tell you enough.

I will be pruning a bunch of posts from the thread. I've also edited a lot of them. Further flames will get you warned.

Hey, it sounds like you've done everything you could to help him. You offered friendship and love to someone who really needed it.

You should be proud of that. :D

Holy [REDACTED]! I just came to work and opened the forums and I was ... shocked with grief. :( I didn't have much OOC interaction with OVT, but he and I had a lot of fun IC when I played Gasbah and he played Revin. It's really a punch in the stomach to hear that he's gone.

I really don't think I can express my grief in a few lines. If there is something after death, I hope he finds joy there. My most sincere condolences to the ones who were close to him. :(

God Darn!

I just booted my PC at work, and decided to browse the forums with my morning coffee, and I see this...
At first I bypassed it, believing it was another mass-delete of a player, but 10 pages in 1 day caught my eye.
I could not believe my eyes when I begun to read this thread. My mind went immediately to the temple U from Percer in Exile, where the body of the Lost Goddess lies, in the memory of a girl who started off as an Imm at the early stages of this game... I remember how I avoid that place out of OOC respect and how it always makes me sad... :(

In truth, I did not know OVT OOCly at all. We had several interactions in game, at various times with various chars. I think I remember one of his early Paladins or something like that, but I am terrible with names...

It's always sad, to lose someone. More for those who are close to him, less for those who barely knew him, sad nonetheless. I believe he was young, most of us in here are, and it makes me more sad to know a young man is no more. It seems that God, Buddha, Mohammed, or whoever is up there, has a really bad sense of humor. He always takes the best, he always takes them at their prime. It's as if he wants the best to be with him, rather than with us... :(

OVT, yeah man, I did not know you personally, we may have argued in game, or here at the forums, but as a human to a human, in a community that we have something in common, I am sorry you're gone. My condolences to his next of kin, family, friends and so on. Courage and good memories of OVT are what will keep you at these times of grief.

I sincerely wish to thank you all, for being the community you are, instead of some impersonal fan-site. We hate each other, love each other, flame each other, but that is what makes SK a great game, the players behind the various characters, and the fact we're humans at the bottom of our heart.

Fair travels OVT, swift winds. May your final journey take you to a better place than the one you so prematurely decided to leave behind you!

And as we say in Greece, "Ας είναι ελαφρύ το χώμα που σε σκεπάζει".
Translation: May the soil that covers you, be weightless over you...

PS. Dunno why, but I feel crashed even though i knew him as little as I did... God darn man... God darn :(
