melee is easy to level from amateur-veteran/expert but once you hit that mark I think spell casters are twice as easy to level.

Edoras, from what I heard, the reason why magic missile is used to lvl is not because of dmg, it is because it is cheap and everytime they cast the spell they get extra xp. So, instead of casting acid spray, you cast MM 5 times (I don't know actual number) which means that you get a lot more xp lvling off of MM casting 5 times then casting one single acid spray. I heard that is the same reason why warlocks are suppose to lvl using burning hands. Low cost spell over multiple times = a lot more xp than 1 casting of a much higher lvl dmg causing spell.

I've never really noticed a difference to be honest. Truth be told my fastest time to GM was on a sorceror. Second fastest was a paladin.

EDIT: The reason sorcerors use magic missiles so much is because the mana per damage ratio is noticeably higher on MM than it is on acid blast. You can kill like 20-30% more NPCs spamming MM on them till you're out of mana than you can spamming acid blast. I used magic missiles all the way up till master, I didn't even have acid blast mastered till like expert. The only thing I used it on was NPCs that needed to die quickly.

Magic missiles is honestly one of the best offensive leveling spells in the game, sorcerors are quite lucky in that regard.

Melee is way, way, way, way easier. Only drag is PE regen. Most melee classes don't get endurance until later in the skill trees. However, for the time it takes them to go from 100 to 0 to 100 again, they'll probably get almost three times as much exp as a caster who goes from 100 ME to 0 to 100 again.

The "double exp" for casting damage spells is a little misleading. It's true for about...two ticks. Then you hit the casting cap, and you're gimped again.

The only advantage casters had in leveling was the ability to exp from relative safety using various spells and terrain tactics, which was taken away from them some months ago now. They need to rest more for less overall exp between rests, their damage output cannot even begin to keep up with melee damage output, and their options for leveling are a great deal more severely limited now.
