Believe it or not, Fepel's pretty spot on on this one. You can even see it reflected in posts with concepts like "I keep the spell up so I know who I'm dealing with - because I won't help darkies". I can be pretty wrong on some things, but my ideas of a "lightie" involve some selflessness and a small degree of naivete. A willingness to generally assist anyone until they prove themselves to be dips unworthy of the consideration.

The general approach to lighties in sk is indeed "guilty until proven innocent", and in 95% of the cases, even after being proved innocent - still guilty. However, this can be blamed on the prevalence of a certain player-run organization or organizations - which is, le gasp, RP!

SK Character: Elriorith/Enfaustina/Nimolthar
IMO there is nothing wrong with these spells.

It's on the discretion of the player each time, on how he will act according to the result of the spell, if he keeps it active.

There have been times when I helped gray aura'ed characters, and an instance or two where I helped darkies, even though I knew they were darkies because of a cabal affiliation, into which I have faith.

And I did that with Elriorith, who is a stern Alshainite.

There are ways to Roleplay, provided one wants to roleplay. But still, I agree that most of the playerbase goes like:

Lighty casts 'detect aura'
Lighty looks at the darkie.
Lighty says to the darkie 'Nope, I wont help you. Go away scum!'

I will not judge the quality of such roleplaying, I will merely state that there are workarounds, provided the character wants to interact.

SK is a role playing game, with pvp. I dont see why everything must be coded in hard code. And I certainly dont want to see the spell go. To be blunt, it allows me to know in quick combat, where my SoF's and Holy Words will work, if nothing else.

While you are close, I would actually say it is more like:

Lightie casts detect aura.
Lightie looks at darkie.
90% of the time lightie attacks darkie w/no rp.

That number is highly exaggerated. If only supported by the fact that my character has NEVER, nor have any of my previous characters attacked a darkie on sight just because he was a darkie. Let alone without rp.

Don't throw around inaccurate numbers like this, sure it happens, but not quite so often.
