Simple way to defeat 'detect aura':

(White aura) A blue-eyed male human is here.
(Grey aura) A blue-eyed male human is here.
(Dark aura) A blue-eyed male human is here.

In other words, triplets that always run together.

Always run together, are the same class, and never greet anyone?

No, Syn.

Make them different classes, and then pretend to have a ground to stand on when you're called out about the adjectives.

It sounds so familiar, like this -may- have recently happened with a pair of "twins"! Oh, I don't know. Probably just me being jaded. ;)

The problem with aura based PKs with no other information is because of an ooc understanding not an IC one and it is highly influenced by one simple thing.

Auras are 100% static.

Percival the Paladin knows without a SHRED OF DOUBT that once a darkie, always a darkie. There is no redemption, no changing, no learning. Once a bad guy, always a bad guy. Because of this, there is ZERO motivation for anyone to attempt the RP of the strong but compassionate upholder of the light who believes that people can change. Because of this, Percival feels the need to kill anything on sight that is dark auraed because it is and always will be his 'enemy'.

People OOC know this, and then it turns into a giant game of Red Versus Blue, or Black Versus White, or Light Versus Dark. No matter how you look at it, this is a huge factor in this argument.

The problem is not with auras or with aura/alignment perception, it is how the players use this information to make enemies without a thought.

In that case, the allignment system should be altered in a way that people could possibly, with effort, change their allignment over a period of time.

I think that would be really neat, a darkie eventually able to redeem themselves and become a lightie, or vice versa the darkies corrupting lighties. Granted it would be very difficult to code, but I think it'd open a ton of doors for some interesting RP and get rid of a lot of the mentality of the light vs dark aspect that seems to plague PK.

Another problem, is the fact that not all darkies are murderous bastards and that's another mentality that needs to change. Just because they're dark aura'd doesn't mean they feast on babies, drink human blood and will kill you for looking at them wrong...That's diabolics, and not every darkie is a diabolic.

Just my 2 cents.

Depends on how you want to play your paladin. Halcidan was a perfect example of a paladin out to kill some [REDACTED]. Though most of you probably didn't play during that time.

Well, I guess my response should have been "Not necessarily."

I know the Dulrik texts don't preach the "kill all evil auras because they'll never change" sermon. Not in the slightest.

It is not the end all be all of the argument peoples.

Many people know this ooc, this is reflected subconsciously to the RP of their characters. It is a major influence, but not the only one, and definitely not the only way it ever gets done. It is, however, a very very popular one.
