Bash makes it impossible to play a battle priest or battle mage who fights in the front row. (unless you are a hand-to-hand combat expert)

I would like to see front row casters viable one day. Maybe an anti-bash spell, thought it would make life harder for classes that currently rely on bash.

Oh my god, you guys are seriously complaining over nothing. I play a caster and I still know you're all full of absolute crap.

Bash is easy to get around. Buy a pet. First row caster? Get a brain, that's what warriors are for. Make a paladin if you want a front row priest. Bash does not hit every time and when it fails, you're [REDACTED]. Should a weakling caster get [REDACTED] over by a bash from a trained warrior? Yes. Every single [REDACTED] time.

This game, over the years, has slowly removed all the ways to kill someone immediately. Don't now remove all possibility of ever keeping anyone in a fight as well. Bash adds tactics, it doesn't remove it. Bash is a tactic - so is trip. Fly is a tactic to get around trip, pets are a tactic to get around bash.

OH NO, NOT TACTICS.

Seriously, stop all this bitching because you're a bunch of lazy noobs.

If bash wasn't bash spellcasters would dominate more than they already do. Bash is fine in my opinion.

I would like to see a change to bash. One removing the resting damage D did mentioned this was being looked into in another thread. I can see both sides of this argument Bash stops tactics that could happen in battle. With out bash how do you stop casters and the flee command. Which makes me think we need another way to lock people in combat, more like Taunt and BoG.

Here is an idea that I just came up with, a skill for Merc, barb, swashbuckler, hellion, paladin, rogue. Its a little complicated to explain I hope you get the idea.
Engage <target> <skill/spell> If you engage someone when that target bash/trip's you are not lagged when using skills (still are for using spells). You do suffer more damage (as is currently the case). How ever you half your chances of bashing or tripping them (not others if in group combat). If your target uses the flee or quaff (the common escape commands how ever quaff is not always so perhaps eat should be added to the list). The skill/spell named when Engage was used is triggered. If you use a spell you are unable to cast other spells while engaged and suffer the lag time of the cast when Engage is started. When the skill is triggered the target is no longer engaged (so bash/trip are normal probability of landing)


Example's
merc engage swash bash.
swash engage merc taunt.

The merc can no longer count on bash or trip nor can the swashbuckler how ever if either one tries to flee the combat they have a high chance of being forced to stay. They are able to focus on other skills in the actuall fight. (PS Hellions should be able to cleave and rogues backstab once)

This idea is mostly just to get melee fights to reach out beyond bash I havent good a good idea for how to mage melee V Caster work.

Perhaps giving Casters the ability to cast a contingency like spell against a skill that lasts until pulse not racing. Contingency bash petrification. While holding Contingency all spells cast at half speed.

Bash is a fundamental of game balance it cant be changed with out a lot of effort going into it. These are just random ideas I though of well reading the thread but I hope it gets other people thinking even if they dont like these ones.

Any game where you just spam a skill/spell while in combat, is not fun. A game with good tactics would make is so that it is hard for you to just spam a certain skill/spell.

What if bash stopped someone from fleeing/quaffing, but not from certain things such as disarming, dirt kicking, casting spells at a slower rate, etc?

I was thinking that. Double, or triple, the casting time of spells. Keep the extra dmg, remove the bash lag for both the bashee and basher.
