Similar to the mentor command but global, this would allow adventurers of like aura and level to find eachother in a sparse player population. You could toggle the channel on/off at your leisure, and the default would be off.

I think we need something like this - I never run into leveling partners at random anymore now that it pays to move quickly from place to place. The expansiveness of the game is actually a detractor in this regard (though don't get me wrong, I love how much variety there is).

Thoughts?

Stop being so cynical.

So you're talking about basically a newbie channel? I think Big D once said that the reason why this game is unique is because it doesn't have a newbie channel. While I understand the benefits to this, I don't think something along the lines of what you're thinking of would be anything more than just a newbie channel...

Unless you're not talking about a newbie channel. I could be wrong.

I'm not talking about a newbie channel at all.

It would work something like this.

I type [mentor] and a message is sent by the newbie school instructor to eligible parties in order of relevance regarding my need for mentorship.

I type [partner] and a message is sent by the someone (mercenary's guild, duelist's guild, other?) to player characters near your level close to your aura suggesting that "x is looking for a traveling partner."

I suppose you could just randomly spam people on the who list and accomplish this IC, but you run the risk of 1) giving away your aura and 2) pissing people off.

Thoughts?

I would rather it act like the mentor command than it be a seperate channel.

I don't see why it shouldn't be added. It would obviously promote RP.

I don't think it's a bad idea, with numbers being somewhat low, if you took out the aura similarities. That should be determined through RP, just as it is for mentoring situations. The innkeepers would be providing a similar function that they do for those seeking mentors - lazy slackers could use another job.

As long as it's toggle-able, sounds good to me.

Gree - well-thought out suggestions addressing an issue someone has noticed in the game are not going to chase people away. Random blasts of vitriol are.

I would agree for this, with the premise that it acted like mentor - and checked against both aura and possibly kingdom.
