Get rid of all forms of Detect Aura/Alignment Spells?

Better idea than this--put in a "change aura" spell. That doesn't really need an explanation, does it? It'd also make aura judgements a lot harder.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I can see how DA comes in handy with seeing items equippable by one aura and seeing if that cutesy little sprite or charming half elf could possibly rip your throat out at any given moment.

The only major problem I have with it, is what most have already said. People using it as an excuse to go "Hoh meh gawd! EVOLLLLLZ j00 DAI NOWkthxbye!" or vice versa. All it takes is one lightie to pass that you're a dark aura icly and bam. You seemingly have everyone, your dog and your mother seemingly hunting you down and people you don't even know attacking you. [shrug] As someone said, it's pretty bad when you can trust the darkies moreso than the lighties. People get so wrapped up in PK they'll even attack you while naked. The whole kill first RP later mentality should really be done away with imo. [shakes head disappointedly.]

Edit: That's the real problem with SK. It's just that the PK people use DA as an excuse which is pretty lame.

I will say that I managed to have a darkie that wasn't often killed or attacked by lighties. In some cases it was exceedingly difficult (and rightfully so!) to accomplish. Thing is, once you've killed at least one lightie, consider your reputation shot, and your head to be hunted. It does have a lot to do with the reputation your character makes for itself.

I have to say I've been killed just as often for "looking evil" as actually having my alignment or aura detected. With Aneira I was killed at novice 2 by two GM elven scouts for "looking like a necromancer".

I don't think taking all aura/alignment detection is honestly going to change anything. People will be killed for wearing eq from a certain evil country, wearing an evil symbol, or just plain looking like an evil bastard.

Seems like a good idea to me. Right now its impossible to get spies into certain organizations because they can just detect your aura and know that your lieing.

Well it also shouldn't be easy to look at someone and say, okay that person evil, that person isnt. I understand spying is suppose to be hard but the way the game is setup now, spying isn't just hard, its impossible.

What would you suggest changes to make it easier to mask aura/alignment.

Removal of those spells is not the answer IMHO.

EDIT:

Not sure if it exists already or not, but a unique item that grants this ability for a limited amount of time would be elite if it doesn't exist already.
