Well, I suppose I can go along with loving to admit it? But then you have to stop saying stuff about my mother.

[REDACTED]. Are you saying rogues can't kill every other class? They sure as hell can. Rogues are already one of the top-end classes, they don't need any buffs, and sure as hell not e-parry.

They sure as hell can't. Barbarians? [REDACTED]. If a barbarian gets killed by a rogue, he should just delete;delete right now. Mercenaries, swashbucklers? They should be raping rogues, if they have half a [REDACTED] clue. Paladins, hellions? If they've got their mount, they should be owning a rogue - hellions deal much more damage thanks to hellfire and can absorb significantly more thanks to heavy armor. Depending on the situation, paladins of BoG, healing, and can absorb massive damage thanks to heavy armor and sanctuary. Their mounts give them a reliable bash and, depending on how they're used, immunity to trip, immunity to backstab, extra damage dealing or extra damage absorption. This basically leaves the caster classes, which all have significantly more utility, and against which any other melee class does just as well.

edit: rogues don't need eparry - that'd be completely against the theme of the class and wouldn't be a balanced implementation. They need new, unique skills. Classes are already too homogenous as is. To that end, a controlled flee is a good suggestion.

I'll agree with sal.

I can't exactly tell you what's wrong with rogues, but what I know is that while I have played a rogue in the past, I wouldn't play one today if you paid me. I mean, even if I had a great concept for a rogue character in SK, I would not be able to handle the gameplay the class offers. Maybe its just not my style?
Still. I think rogues lack a little something. Proof to this is the general lack of rogues in the game. Kinda the opposite of hellions, I'd think :p

Honestly, I never had that much trouble with those classes you mentioned, except barbs, and I've even killed a few of those with only a pet to aid me. So fine, you have one class that is extra hard to kill as a rogue, as for the others? I don't buy it. I never had much trouble with hamstrung swashbucklers, never had much trouble with mercs either, really. As for the pets, it's funny that you don't want to add scrolls in with rogues as a tactical advantage, but you want to add in a store bought pet. At the very least you can petrify their pet with a scroll you buy from a sorc. But that's still assuming they know you're going to attack them (face it, if someone has a pet, 90% of the time they're behind it), and if they do know, then you've already given up your biggest advantage in pk (not even just for this class).

As for the flee skill? I don't think it much matters either way, so sure.

There's actually a bunch of rogues in the game. In a playerbase of 20-30, 6 is a lot. Hellion, yes, is always popular and all-time high numbered.

Proof Rogues need nothing,

Code:
[18:22] <ardith> Health 100 Mana  99 Movement 100
[18:22] <ardith> Suddenly a pot-bellied male halfling stabs you in the back!
[18:22] <ardith> That really did HURT!
[18:22] <ardith> Your chest is ripped apart from massive damage!
[18:22] <ardith> You lose your concentration on armor.
[18:22] <ardith> You feel less protected.
[18:22] <ardith> You lose your concentration on protection.
[18:22] <ardith> You feel less protected.
[18:22] <ardith> A pot-bellied male halfling's second backstab does UNSPEAKABLE THINGS to you!
[18:22] <ardith> You have been KILLED!!
[18:22] <ardith> You no longer see invisible objects.
[18:22] <ardith> You slowly float to the ground.
[18:22] <ardith> You no longer feel stealthy.
[18:22] <ardith> Health   0 Mana 104 Movement 100

You may all laugh at Ardith, if you know who he plays. (Hint, wears plate)

I'm not asking for them to do more damage, I'm asking for them to take less damage.

....

I bet if the second backstab wouldn't have killed her, he would have died.

Rogues don't need anymore fighting capability. Why not just let everyone wear hvy armor, have shield block, dodge, parry, eparry. Then everyone will be able to stand in combat longer.
