Since, I believe that novices are still newbies, how about a tag at the end of their name that says (Newbie) and initiate - apprentice they get a tag that says (Lowbie).

Also, make it toggleable for the guys who have been around a while or knows what they are doing.

I do not want to see a Newbie or Lowbie tag at the end of someone's name when I look in the room.

I think Dulrik's idea is the best so far, just stun them on the last hit up to a certain level.

I agree I just thought the above would be easier than Xe's suggestion

What the hell? If your on mode stun you're gonna pull the final blow. Ain't that the point in the first place? Why we need to make it more complicated, since we're on the subject of making things newbie friendly in the first place.

Alshain you're right, I did steal a backpack from a newbie. But you didn't add the part where I gave it back and told them about wearing it and putting their things in it so people like me couldn't do that thing in the future.

The whole thing is you're not on mode stun. You're on mode kill. And with D's idea, you pull the final blow if the char is too low a level and you're on mode kill. It keeps the collateral damage (lowbie deaths) down when you're rampaging towns on mode kill.

And at the same time, it tells newbies to always keep an eye out because city raids do happen w/o punishing them by killing them and hoping they know a priest already.

What's going to help newbies is if seasoned players aren't too lazy to type 'con person' and say leave them alone they're young.

You want to talk about confusion? After a city raid there's probably friendly priests that would give aid to those that fell in that raid to the invader. BUT You stun him on mode kill the newbie wakes up with no arms or no legs.

Now I don't know if anyone is in the habit of watching how newbies play. But if they lose a limb you confuse the hell out of them. I could picture some newbie who's arm got cut off cause out of a group of nine people none of them had the patience to take two seconds out of his pk spree. Now that newbie goes off to train and is seriously confused about what the hell just happened to his weapon. Or better yet ever see a newbie like 'Why can't I wear my boots? Why cant I wear my leggings? What's happening? Then they need to get a regen, which requires a friendly priest or money and what if they don't have enough?

You're gonna doom some newbie to walking around as an amputee because you was people was too lazy to type a three letter command into the game. If you're rping being evil, you really shouldn't care if you kill the young, old, the innocent. But if you're good you should have that care and take the time to make sure. This is just a lazy man's way of saying, kill them all and let god sort them out if he's too young to die. Can't you make that own decision yourself?

I feel like this is a tool to slaughter RP. If you're very light hearted you probably shouldn't even attack the young in the first place, if you're evil you'd kill them. This destroys rp, destroys the whole, evil has the advantage because they kill with no mercy and the good has the disadvantage of having to actually make sure the ones they kill are the right ones.

I don't see why people just gotta be so lazy they can't type commands into a text based game. Be on mode kill but stun, what a good argument, not. Being on mode kill should mean I'm trying to kill. Being on mode stun would mean I'm trying to stun. If you want to switch in the middle of battle switch. Make it a command you can type in when tripped or bashed so you can't accidentally kill someone.

[Alshain edit: added paragraph breaks]

I got voodoo'd at Jman just for my title. I thought it was pretty lame, but I am not QQing. Hp trains saved me there thank god. You'd be suprised how many people automatically go to the who list and start pointing the finger. I think everytime Algon and Company killed someone in Tas/Nerina I got a tell "That the best you can do", Etc etc, while the whole time I was leveling. :P
