Alter bash's effect to be variable, lasting between 2 and 3.5 rounds, dependant on a roll which is influenced by basher's weight/size/STR/DEX versus the victim's weight/size/STR/DEX. The lag induced by bash would remain static, always lasting 3 rounds.

Larger, heavier victims with more DEX and STR are harder to firmly and effectively bash, thus the effects of a bash are not as devastating as they might otherwise be.

Why?

To reduce the effectiveness and desirability of spam bashing. With the length of bash's effect taken to some extent out of the basher's hands, bash remains an effective tool for limiting use of abilities, but is not a guaranteed way to lock the opponent in place or prevent strategic maneuvers on their part. As a result, bashers would be encouraged to make use of other tools within their arsenal, making combat more dynamic.

I should note that I don't believe spam bashing is the king of combat in SK, but for how little skill it requires, it's too effective.

As a side effect, centaur, griffon, and giant casters would benefit from this, by becoming somewhat less vulnerable from exposure to the front line.

I agree. Spam bashing and tripping are too simple and anyone can do it, granted with trip it takes more skill to consistently keep several targets tripped..

All in all, I like this.

Bash has an insta kill effect now, theres a 1 in 1000000 chance that you can bash someone and they instantly be killed.

I'm almost positive size is already taken into account anyways.

It's harder to bash/trip races that are of a larger size than your race, and easier to bash races that are smaller than your race.

Characters with high dexterity are also more difficult to bash already.
