We can enchant for hit and for damage, why not speed?

Cause this isn't WoW?

I personally rather have Mongoose on my weapon for an enchantment myself.

Actually, I rather like this idea. It would make a lot of weapons more useable if you could put caps on them so they don't have insane speed. Say battle axes or morning stars and other naturally slower weapons.

I'm not a big fan of this, unless the increase in speed possible is severely limited. I can see this being a good addition, but only if, say, one weapon or two weapon classes of improvement are possible. It doesn't make a lot of sense that a huge, heavy, two-handed axe becomes as fast as a rapier or kama, for example.

Just swing your weapon arm faster, that'll gain you some speed. :)

Yeah, I don't know enough about weapon speed to say one way or the other if it really would help. But I think it would send swashbucklers over the top.

I believe speed is the counter part of damage. And accuracy is the silver lining. If all three can be upped, the whole weapon system becomes skewed, since speed is the balancer for big damage weapons.

I think if it were possible to mod a weapon for speed, it should be very rare to ever get a speed bonus over moderate increase (which is what, 2 enchants?) -- otherwise, not a bad idea, just maybe needs thinking through.
