Giving shamans the equivalent of symbol bonuses without being adversely affected is too much. They're already pretty strong, having another (swappable) symbol slot, which is something that even religions don't get to enjoy, is a very unneeded buff.

Religion folks get symbol bonuses in exchange for losing spirit aura. Shamans shouldn't get to have their cake and eat it too.

GosU, for the win.

We need skills and spells that differentiate classes more, not make them more homogeneous.

I was trying to suggest something to non-religious shamans, because aside from PK purposes. The spirit dolls, are pretty much useless. A shaman will most likely still wield a shield.

Heh, oops. Completely misunderstood.

It might be a bit overstrong, but I still like the concept. Even if it were mostly just a cosmetic thing.

Yeah, it would be nice even for just cosmetic reasons, If it is however used as a cosmetic or for RP reasons, then it should be giving to them WAy sooner then master, perhaps the same level that priests get create symbol?

I can see the pros and cons of this, and I would rather it be a spiritual totem to that necklace, but I would rather see shaman gain something along the lines of a summonable spirit companion. A creature of energy that is half the casters level or up to a certain level. Four types can be made to add a bit of variety: stag, bear, wolf, and serpent, for example. The shaman would not be able to buy a normal pet after summoning one, or have one bought prior to summoning one. The spirits would have normal functions as other pets, just give a bit more flavour to shamans in general. Not castable if in a religion.

Shamans get spirit aura for not being in a religion. They lose wearing a symbol for one of the best defensive spells in the game. I think its a fair trade. If the charm was just a necklace slot then I would have no problem with it. Adding flavor and increasing RP between barbs and shamans is good. It also would not make the shaman any more powerful than one with a friend who can enchant.

spirit aura is no longer one of the best defensive spells in the game. It doesn't stack with a shield and the return damage is negligible. I think I agree that my suggestion was a little ambitious and should be no more powerful than a symbol.

I do love the idea. I would like to see it implemented, even if for the sake of balance there would be no bonuses on that necklace. Just for RP reasons, I would love to see shamans actually crafting their own charms/totems in the place of symbols.

The term "non-religious shamans" makes me giggle.

Anyways, I love this idea, I don't even care if the thing has bonuses(though if it doesn't have bonuses, I'd hope it would go in the symbol slot  ) or not, I just want to be able to have a totem necklace thingie with my Spirit Animal on it.
