I believe alignment breaking punishments should be as IC as the act that broke alignment. If a priest of love murders someone in a fit of rage, you can't just delevel him and say its ok for example.

This is a good point. There's a difference between characters who act outside of alignment over extreme IC stress, and those who break it lightly for OOC advantage.

I'd agree that such cases call for IC punishments instead of OOC ones - blemishment, in this instance. The HP/HF can restore him when they feel it appropriate.

I don't want to apply IC punishments to the other group. These are characters who are breaking OOC roleplay rules, just as surely as if they created an elf who marries a deep-elf. Further, making atonement-quests is way too much work for the immortals, who have other things to do besides play enforcer.

Solution: More imms, or angels with authority to mess with RP and such?

Yes, this mud does need more imms that are RP driven, I always disliked the concept of 'everything imms' who have to juggle so much.

As our staff grows we do have people who are becoming more focused on certain aspects. Generally the staff has grown in the past two years and as the responsibilities are shared, it allows for more freedom. I'd like every staff member to demonstrate a certain level of capability before they are let loose as a full-fledged Immortal. That's not to say that angels aren't already supervising RP and helping newbies. We all do what we're best at, but everyone has responsibilities in both areas because there is work to be done in both areas. Its impossible to separate it completely, because building and interaction go hand in hand. Good RP's can spawn good building and vice versa.
