Well to start, I admit I've been very busy the past few months and don't get to play very often. I log in today to find that my character has been stripped of everything that has value, which is obviously an immortal's doing as I am of appropriate level for the items I was wearing. I don't think my having these items was harming anyone, it was only basic mithril (camoflaged) which I went through a great deal hunting down a tracker to get. Is there any explanation for this because I've never read anything about being stripped for lack of activity?

If I remember correctly, you need to put in at least 30 hours per month or so in your character. If that is not the case, s/he is considered inactive and it is coded so that there is a chance you lose some equipment if not all if it's limited in the game. As for the camouflaged gear, it only exists in limited numbers and although very basic, it is essential to mid-high lvl characters.

It is most definitely not an immortal's doing.

The exact amount of hours needed to keep an item varies depending on the specific item, but other than that Mystra has it right. In order to prevent people logging off with rare items and only play once in a blue moon, some of the more rare items are 'dehoarded' if your hours in an extended period of time are too low.

It's not an imm thing, but a code thing.

Apparently it's in the blue box you get when you log on, but it could be reworded for clarity.

Characters with more than 30 days of inactivity may be deleted without notice. Storage characters will be castrated.

It made sense when it was explained to me, but I personally relate 'storage character' with multiplaying, not inactivity.

Heh, I remember the discussion about castration.

Ah well thanks for the info. I figured that maybe the Imms had some way of checking who has and hasn't been active, and said hey this guy hasn't been very active he doesn't need this stuff and removed all my valuables. Sorry for assuming that. I suppose I have to hunt for them once again then.

Imms do have a way but why bother? :) It's being automatic so it saves overlooking, trouble etc etc. ;)

If you're referring to removing items from characters who aren't online, we the immortals don't "have a way", only Dulrik would (although it would be very messy). Unless you mean we can dehoard online players via the "slay" command.

This is incorrect. The MUD does not run on MySQL. There are some 'pushed' database updates to automatically maintain forum membership when you join religions, cabals and tribunals but that's about it.
