Hehe, there's a quest where a necro NPC edrains you and then immediately after that rewards you with xp. Kind of feels like eating a wrapped caramel...so moot.

I vote every successful cast of e-drain strips you of 15 levels.

That's the only way a necro will be worth playing in its currently imbalanced, ridiculous state.

If anything, edrain needs a faster casting time and no cool down between when it drains you of xpees.

Seriously, leave necros alone and make edrain buff and make it master and fod mentor.

I actually ate a full level of NPC edrain casts when I was hunting for places to train on my own with a lightie barb. It was painful. I cried.

Maybe edrain could be a more effective PvP spell if it were to take the victim's PE to 0%. No holy word if it lands on the proper person, it doesn't drain XP, everybody's happy! Right?

I actually think thats a good idea. Take a bit off PE, a bit of ME, and a lot of PE. PE could be based on a saving throw. The more you save, the less PE taken... No save at all, means maybe only a few percent left...

Too powerful against ... well, everybody.

0% PE renders any warrior class completely unusable and makes everybody else unable to escape.

Since half want to buff it and half want to nerf it... Why don't we just keep it the same?

E drain is alright but some players need to remember to use it less specially against lower level foes. When you can kill a foe before you can cast E drain should you really have considered casting it in the first place ?

How ever I am still strongly in favor of when you lose XP your "knowledge of areas" should be pushed by towards giving you an XP bonus (Not for RP curses). Considering you become familiar with an area because of XP gain when XP is taken you forget about areas. This leaves E drain with still a big bite but the hours of recovery are slightly less.

Maybe something to take off 50% then, if it hits hard enough. A priest will have a hard time casting (another) holy word, a warrior can get potentially wrecked, and essentially, word of recall becomes harder to use or cast.
