Well, I saw the post about a thief losing some uber super wands which he should have been able to hold and it made me think. Wouldn't it be an idea that if you hold an item you are unable to use there is a small chance it will get stolen by thieves?

For instance:

A rogue holding a wand -> Chance of steal since he cannot use it.
A sorceror holding an axe -> Chance of steal. (perhaps since he can polymorph)
Hellion holding scrolls -> Chance of steal.

You get the idea...

One could also limit the amount of same items one can hold at any given time. For instance only 5 rings or 3 swords etc...

There are classes out there that need to be able to hold EQ for their charmies/controls. So, your idea should not work with them.

Ofcourse such thing should be taken into consideration.

My experience is that some people often work as storage containers and the aim is to prevent that :)

I would rather simply see the time that an unused character holds a unique or limited item be cut down further, if it is found necessary.

As long as the character is active, in game, they can be killed, or perhaps bargained with. I see no reason to auto-steal items then. They could be roleplaying merchants, or holding the item for roleplay/nostalgic/other reasons That ICly makes sense.

Containers need to be put on the list of items that need to be castrated every month. Right now anyone can log on 1 second a month and hoard the leetest containers.

I've brought this up four times now Trag, and each time someone calls me a hoarder and tells me to STFU.

So...

STFU hoarder.
