Shattered Kingdoms

I like the idea of archiving very old notes in libraries, although I've never minded their presence on the boards. They're something to read when you're waiting for life to appear in the inns, and there's a charm in reading of past events somewhat akin to reading the ancient news posts. "Hey, there was a time when..."

Get rid of the futuristic astral boards and return to the common use of the kingdom boards. That'll reduce the clutter immensely and get rid of the need to libraryize stuff.

Want all the kingdoms to see your note? Post it on all their boards. Outlawed in one kingdom or another? Find someone to post your note for you.

I come to agree with Pushing40. Astral boards were a nice idea, and there was supposed to be a theme RP behind them ... to happen, I believe. V'klya may know more about it. Yet, having them just stay like that, they are completely out of theme to the game.

In theory, I agree that kingdom boards alone make more sense for SK.

But in practice, very few people actually used the kingdom boards when they were the only ones available. I think the astral boards were a compromise to encourage people to use the note system.

The astral boards are sponsored by a guild, much the same way that the dueling system is sponsored by a guild. Just because you may not have been involved, does not mean that RP did not happen. Every kingdom that has a board met with the guild and paid for their installation.

I can't remember, were they sponsored by the psychoanalysts guild? Or was it the "E.T. come back!" guild?

Regardless of the aforementioned psionocist RP, the astral boards don't fit SK and should be removed and supplanted by the various kingdom boards. I do remember they were moderately active prior to the astral boards.

And yes, I do use them. It's something akin to "The government needs to cut out the pork but while it's there, I'm getting my share" type of stance.

I don't get what is 'futuristic' about them... you accept flying, spells, invisibility, telerporting, summoning people, fireballs from the palm, other-worldly planes of existence, reincarnation, but you don't accept that there is a system to post a note for everyone to read...?

There was rp involved in it, I was one of the Talon leaders around the time they got installed and I remember getting tells from 'someone' speaking I think Firmyrn if I remember right and we had to pay like 20? obsidian I believe.
