If you think of SK as some sort of formula, then I can see where this is too far out of the box in your eyes. However our IMM staff has made something different than a typical mud.

Wow, I can't wait to see whether the imms do their job and delete your post for trolling in gameplay. I am veritably sitting on the edge of my seat with anticipation.

That said, I gave you a serious response to one of the lamest ideas I've ever seen, but thanks for letting me know that you aren't worth the effort in the future.

As for your "answer", and I call it that for want of a better term, no, you think wrong. Everyone would want to move on, and pretty much everyone would have the ability to - cabal and religion leaders who do their part and kiss the right asses are a dime a dozen, and they'd all go largely inactive until age-death, when they'd QQ at the imms until they got the change over.

Yes, you're right, the imms have made a different mud to stock muds, like I was saying in my post. That unique nature includes permanent, irrevocable age death. There are no age reduction spells (as I told you), there are no ways to extend your life short of an item that was never used. Such ideas have been resisted when they've been brought up in the past.

Basically what I'm telling you is no, no, no, no, no.

I've removed the flames. Normally I would remove the posts, but then I wouldn't be able to reply.

Jardek has correctly assessed the situation. I played MUDs 13 years ago that let you reincarnate your character into a more powerful form, so the idea is hardly new. Furthermore, it would largely negate the purpose of age death. Shattered Kingdoms aims to have a dynamic and changing community of characters where everyone eventually has a chance to be in the spotlight.

Age death is the enabler of this goal. It's the mechanism that forces established leaders to make way for the next generation. Age death is an unpopular idea that makes it harder for us to get and retain players: pay-for-play game have certainly never considered implementing it. But I am convinced that it is a net asset for the roleplay environment of the game. RP is one of the core values that gives SK its unique identity, so I'm not about to sacrifice it even if it were to make the game more popular.

Even with restrictions? While formulating this idea, I was thinking of restrictions similar to keeping a leaderflag. That way there is not the stale status quo of big players with Immortals. If they don't add to the RP of the game, they fade out forever.

Also, please comment on the whole idea. What about limitations such as summonability and charm? The idea is really hinged on this forced RP concept on level with the PAR idea. It is not a blind reincarnation, I never put forth that type of lame idea.

Is this really the case? Or is it that a handful of select players powerlevel a new characters every so often?

How will this idea stop the vast majority of the player base from conducting business as usual?
Dulrik, tell me logically how this could be the case?

Hey Dulrik, since you are in the censoring mood, why not edit Jardek's thread title attached to this link? You edit me poking fun at him, but allow his idiotic thread titled "Dark-Avenger sucks giant donkey dick"to exist? Where is the forum consistency?

And no, you are wrong. Here is Achernar locking and censoring someone's thread for far less offense. And without answering the poor bastard either.

Actually, this would affect both alignments differently you know. Which side has the most access to Edrain? Some fervent others on the other might even disdain the use of edrain items. Since res can keep dying from losing a level or exp, edrain is the only other real thing.

Hmm. Perhaps slap a white aura on the item, make it only affect evil opponents, add a neat script, and presto! It is now a holy relic that removes the ill-gotten unholy powers of bad guys. :)
