Good idea. For deep tongue anyway. I wouldn't give any race a language that they would otherwise get by choosing a kingdom. If you gave elves and sprites sylvan, I have little doubt the population of these signature races would drop in their own kingdom.

You know what would be a fantastic idea, Dulrik? Limiting starting kingdoms for races. Pureblooded elves, for example, should only be able to start in Ayamao. Griffons should be restricted from starting in a traditionally evil area, too, and maybe necromancers could only start in an evil/neutral place, spreading only as far as their lies will allow.

Deep-elves should be able to start in caves, as well as dwarves and gnomes. I found it weird when I figured out that I couldn't start these characters underground. I think it could seriously affect the p-base population if you changed this.

Yeah, into the negatives. Ch'zzrym needs substantial reworking before it can (should) accomodate newbies. Not only that, but the mud's population is too small to be spread so far.

I don't know if it is possible but could those three races when starting in Zhenshi or Uxmal actually having a question posed such that it would replace whichever language they would speak normally with deep?

Did Jardek just have a good idea?

I dont mind the races being restricted to a starting location, but I do not like the idea of classes being restricted. Who's to say that a Taslamaran cant be twisted enough to embrace necromancy? or a Zhenshman? It would be hard, sure, but that could be interesting.

As for race restriction, my question is this. If the elves are to be restricted to Ayamao, where are the deep-elves to be restricted to, if not Chzzrym? And would ALL elves be restricted? or just Sylvar? or Sylvar and Pyran?

I like idea, I'd just like to see it fleshed out.

I think that I would be happy if you could have a question on creation that you can choose to speak deep as you language. I think that would be more fitting for dwarves, delf, and gnomes.

I like the idea of giving deep-language to deep races, as long as we stop there. It's a very minor perk for those races, considering how easily these skills are acquired, and how little use they have outside of roleplay. There's no reason to apply a penalty or to make it a choice.

I'm more worried about class/race limitations. They're a good thing only if we're careful to permit everything the gameworld does. For example, there are necromancers in Taslamar, so that class should be permitted there. Likewise, there are griffons native to the Empire and Uxmal. All-good and all-evil kindgoms are banal; let's maintain Pyrathia's complexity.

I never get sick of seeing folks like you say some variant of that every time I stop mocking you long enough to give an idea. It makes me laugh every time.
