From my character's perspective, champion+ characters:

Most rare - bard/necromancer/sorceror
Most common - swashbuckler/mercenary/warlock

You obviously aren't aware of the veritable rash we've recently been infected with. 10,000 newbie dark priests.

Yeah... we do have a bunch of those. If you want to roll one anyway, I doubt anyone would hold an objection.

Don't play something just because it's needed. Play something you think is fun. If you're having fun, you'll add to averybody elses.

That said, make a lighty priest.

There are few groups that would ever reject a priest. I have yet to really play one all that long, but Jada is completely addicted to them. Though you'll most likely be hated by someone due to your affiliation with an IMM, you will almost always be loved and respected by full groups of people for the abilities you have. This is arguably the best class in SK all around.

Things I haven't seen very much of and would like to:

Darkie - scout, rogue, swashie, necro. (if you can believe that), and mage. These are in no particular order.

Grey - Umm.. Rogue? To tell you the truth, I don't care enough to pay attention.

Lightie - I don't honestly think they are missing much. I guess I haven't seen all too many of the paladin variety.

Shamans?

Things I may have seen too much of:

Warlocks, all around. Love the class, very useful and powerful, but I think people need to get a little more inventive.

Swashies of all alignments who fight on the side of the light. I have good reason to hate any swashie that is against me.

Hellions are kinda flooded, but still only a handful of good-great ones.

Though, this all might be skewed by the fact that some classes are needed less than others. I'd say the need for priests is far higher than any need for warlocks or hellions.

But if you're aiming to please me (which I'm sure you are) roll anything from the darkie's lacking list.

Best advice given. *Nods* You won't stick with a character if you don't think it's fun. So roll a few, test them out and get a feel. Pick one and stick with it.

Common/uncommon is pretty relative to who your general circle of association is.

Rogues, priests, and bards are universally uncommon. Although the population of priests has fluxed recently, people tend to sputter out after a few weeks of playing a priest, and thus is probably a short-term trend. Warrior classes bounce around in popularity between the three classes, so by the time you level up whatever's uncommon now, it'll be common again in no time.
