Okay, I didn't read all of this, just looked at Achernar's listed weapons and wanted to comment on one of them, I have used khukris before and actually liked them, the problem is I only know of one in the whole game and it is zappy to non-darkies and used to be adamantite and now is ivory I think and therefore pretty much useless, and then consider how hard it is for a darkie(the only people who can pick it up) to get.

Khukri's are very nice, a pity -everything- in the area where the old one is was whimped. Plenty of the items could have stayed as they were.

even if weapon availablity is increased, it will just mean more weapons that lie around or get junked... Wonder at all why an IMM asked what weapon subtypes we need more of and not players? If these subtypes were usable, players would be complaining about the lack of availability before IMMs would.

Look, availability of sais and other unused weapons would be nice, but ALSO we still need the weapon accuracy/damage/speed disparities examined and tweaked to make the effort worth anything. DULRIK, I know you said that making all the weapon subtypes the same would in effect make weapon subtypes pointless, to which I agree, but that is not what we need. We need a tweak--slightly lessen most of the vast differences. For one weapon to be a fourteenth as damaging as another makes it useless, so in effect the subtype itself is useless by defult, which is what you are trying to avoid by decreasing a/d/s disparity. Instead of c.14 "levels" of a/d/s, why not decrease it to 10 or even 7? I think it would have a very positive effect on the variations of character concepts and weapon usage, and in conjunction with an increase in lacking weapon availabilities would greatly increase the disparity in CHARACTER CONCEPTS as well as enhance RP.

In short, support RP by decreasing (but not eliminating) disparity.

For once, I've got to agree with Drewbag. If the scale were lessened to 10, we'd see a lot more broadsword/longsword users, instead of everyone screaming for khopeshes. More of the "trash" weapons would get looked at, instead of junked/scoffed at. I mean, as it is now, there are some subtypes I wouldn't touch with a pole. I'd rather go barehanded, than have that particular type.

Thank you for adding absolutely nothing to the discussion. For a mexican, you really are unproductive.

But, I agree with drewbag too. There shouldn't be weapons that are just PURE 100% go unused. Even between classes, I am finding I am using mostly the same or similiar subtypes, and all those have a very slight degree in which they waver between a/d/s.

Oh, damn, I forgot to add absolutely anything to the discussion. Well, here goes.

Having never leveled a fighter class past apprentice, I have no experience here whatsoever. However, I can understand wanting to be able to RP with something without being smeared across teron. Make it so!

Set a value for ADS added together, adjust each subtype accordingly so that the number always comes out the same for every weapon that way a sai that has no damage and super speed is more accurate then a wak. Let the numbers all total the same makeing them level.

Problem here is that the speed and such is also based off what skills you have. Faster weapons = more parry (from my understanding) and more attacks.

So while shaman and hellions can use slow weapons, mercenaries, swashbucklers, and barbarians will typically want to use faster weapons.

Plus, the speed to a barbarian is different than to a swashbuckler. So how would you really put a number on it?

My point being, even if two weapons got valued at '8' combined, it doesn't mean that one 8 is superior to the other 8 because of additional skills that speed into account more so than damage or accuracy, thus improving the weapon over the other.
