I still think area familiarity should be proportionate to the size of the area (if this isn't the case already). The larger it is, the more time one should need to get familiar with it.

Among the areas that need to be divided to smaller sectors add the chancel.

I'm with Tat and Minette on this one. Minette explained the reasons why #2 is great, without giving less competetive players advantages (they'll still take a long time, but they won't grind themselves to dust or have a breakdown).

There's nothing wrong with it the way it is now.

I find that its possible to get five solid levels only for sociable warriors and mages below journeyman. After that, it gets a bit tricky. I think lowering the penalties or increasing the amount of time would help tremendously. Of course, that is what I think in my arrogant opinion.

You get five levels regardless of your Charisma score.

If you haven't been in an area for 10 years, it's like you've never been there.
Lowering the level of familiarity with time, sounds fine imo.

hey, lowering the speed by which areas become familiar according to their size is a perfect idea! That way we can avoid begging the imms for a different area in teron for each spot (newb, gobs, torrum, roaring lion, etc). No neverending job of continually updating the areas and dividing into seperate areas as needed, instead there would be no reason to divide areas up at all, it would just 'work.'

I get 2.5 levels, 3 at best, at any area slightly above my level. I have wasted two areas and kept very close track of them while I was doing it. Leveling is slow, tedious, and, overall, not fun. I patiently await D's new ways of gaining exp.

Right now, the pleveling is in the RP.

seriously, who is getting five levels? I get to the first penalty within 2.5.
