Is anyone else tired of seeing...
holy crap i already know wrote:
You are hungry.
You are thirsty.

In the middle of otherwise leet and epic RP? It really just breaks the mood, creates unnecessary spam, and is downright annoying.

So, my solution is this:
help auto wrote:
auto hunger -- silences hunger/thirst messages

When on, it just stops the hunger/thirst reminders, plain and simple. Thoughts?

Perhaps not a toggle to turn it completely off, but to reduce the amount it comes up. Say, once every 20 ticks. That way, if you turn it off in the middle of an RP event, you won't forget to turn it back on later.

I don't know if this will be implemented, but meanwhile some MUD clients allow you to gag/filter stuff. Quite easy to setup if only two lines are unwanted.

There is that, but it's significantly more of a hassle (for those of us not totally awesome at manipulating their clients), and the prompt will still trigger. I mean, those are both fairly minor things, but I think it can be agreed that this would be a superior solution than having to write your own, assuming it's not a massive amount of work for D or whoever else, which depends on how it's implemented.

We don't need a poll over something as [REDACTED] and silly as the hungry and thirsty messages.

The game is telling you that your character is hungry and thirsty for a reason. Because they are hungry and thirsty.

Eat and drink something and the game will leave you alone.

It might have been worth the trouble, if there weren't more important things to worry about now. ;p I Think this is the least of anyone's concern. Yes, it's irritating, but if people ignore it and don't eat and drink in the middle of serious RP, it's all good (unless of course they can't really sit without precious sanctuary/shield/protections/invis up). *shrugs*

If you're going for realism, you shouldn't be able to go for an infinite amount of time without eating or drinking. But you can. Besides, it's quite feasible to ignore what your body's telling you about being hungry/thirsty, considering the other things these characters do.

This isn't a major complaint or anything, I just thought it would be a nice feature. That's all.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to toggle off the messages, as long as you can still see your status in score, which you can. I just don't think it's worth the effort. Seeing you are hungry and you are thirsty isn't destroying the game or making it worse, It's just one persons pet peeve.
