Although I could see an evil race someday in the future, how many people would really want to play a goblin? Or an orc? Maybe it's just me, but they don't seem very unique or exciting.

Make a couple new races, not that hard to code if you use exsisting skills.

Neither does playing a human character, but people still do that.

I'll throw my hat into the ring of evil races again and suggest this one. Since Dulrik is supposedly a lover of Japanese culture, it might be worth a shot. It's a close mirror to griffons but far enough off that it might be more interesting...

TENGU - evil avian race
The tengu were given rise by yet another attempt by the Empire to create a race to counter or recreate the race of griffons for their owns means. This time, success. The tengu are creatures with the head and wings of a great bird of prey, but the bodies and limbs of a man. Gifted both physically and magically, they excel at both physical and magical combat, but having no ties to the divine, lack considerably in the clerical arts.

Statistical maxes-
Str - 20
Dex - 22
Con - 20
Int - 22
Wis - 16
Cha - 22

Innate abilities - fly, endurance, infravision, immune to holy magic (bolt of glory, spear of faith, holy word, etc.), susceptible to elemental magic and piercing attacks

Allowable casses - Rogue, Scout, Swash, Sorc, Warlock, Necro

Alignments - Anarchist, Miscreant, Diabolic

A large part of what attracted me to learn all of the lore of this MUD and play it still today is the fact that we only have the "boring" races. These are the tried and true races, after all. Not everyone likes them, but far less outright hate them as compaired to lizard/dragon people, cat people, bird people, etc.

I would much rather see an orc, half-orc, ogre, minatour, goblin, etc. These things are all in a lot of mythology and I really think they could still add something new.

I'd love to see orcs or half-orcs as a playable race. Orc barb ftw.

I think Gremlin24 has the right of it, that races from mythology have more potential and seem more IC. I'd rather see a kobold than a dog-person any day.

But it's important to make these races interesting and distinct. Giants have cornered the market for dumb brutes. We don't need essentially smaller and evil-only giants. So I have little interest in minotaurs and orcs.

But goblins and kobolds are different. We could give them a quite different role, by using some of the more faerie-like background stories. That'd also seperate them from the magic-resistant halflings. This could make a worthy addition to SK.

Orcs are not essentialy stupid. Not very charismatic, but other than that, I would play an orc.
And goblins, something between a sprite and a halfling. :D

Goblin sorc with final strike, on a suicide mission!
Or goblin Hordes, swarms of them raiding cities!

I would absolutly love to see a goblin raiding party, though I would much rather have orcs.
